My parents are interested in taking a trip to the Colorado Springs area. My mom hasn't ever been and wants to go to Pike's Peak, Garden of the Gods, etc.

My father has some health issues and they would really like to find a condo rental so they can have a kitchen or kitchenette to cook some meals.

They have stayed at places like SunRiver, OR where they can rent a condo in a resort complex and then explore the surrounding area. Anything like that in the area? When I did a quick look online, I didn't find any. Mostly just found cabin rentals.

I would suggest airbnb.com or vrbo.com. We have used VRBO multiple times, and are using airbnb.com this July for a trip to Denver. My daughter works at the Childrens Hospital in Colorado Springs, but lives in Denver. I can ask her specific questions if you would like! Good Luck!

I go there a lot since my daughter lives there. At 6500 ft. you tend to get that mountain theme.
There is a Marriott Residence Inn which has a kitchen, one in the northern part, and one in the south section.
Both are not too far from Manitou Springs and the Garden of the Gods.

I did a quick look at vrbo with her while on the phone, but we didn't see what she was looking for. I didn't even think to look for a Residence Inn. They might like that option.

I'm not even sure this trip is going to happen with dad's health being what it is right now, but planning makes mom happy. :)

Just fyi, there is St Francis hosp. just down the road from the north residence in. Off Powers Rd. and Woodmen.
And Memorial hospital is right there real close also, which has the heart specialists.
I am also told that there is a Hilton Garden Inn by Briargate {north colo springs} that has a kitchenette also. also close to these Medical facilities.

Hi Sonya, I live in Colorado Springs! I don't personally know of any condo rentals in the area but we have numerous hotels with kitchenettes in town that would probably serve your parents well. They are spread around town and most of them have a variety of businesses and restaurants nearby. I can say firsthand that it's a beautiful place to visit for all ages. If your Dad were to need medical care there are three hospitals in town. Two are in the north and one is centrally located. I live about five minutes from Garden of the Gods and about 15 minutes from Manitou Springs. Offhand, I know there is a Towneplace Suites, Hyatt Place, and an Embassy Suites within ten minutes from where I'm located. Good luck with your search!

The elevation on Pike's Peak can take a toll on even young healthy folks. Your dad may want to investigate this before going up. It sure is beautiful country.

It's more mom that wants to do Pike's Peak, but I'll warn them about the elevation and be sure they talk to Dad's doctors about it.

I told her about the Marriott Residence Inn and she's looking at them. Dad likes that because he's got points. :) That apple didn't fall far from the tree.

I've never been to Colorado Springs before, but it's on the list. Years ago I saw a presentation by a dog trainer who does group classes in outdoor locations in the area. One of her videos was a walk at Garden of the Gods and I've been wanting to go ever since. (I also have a secret crush on Lt. Joe Kenda from Homicide Hunter on Investigation Discovery, but I promised my husband I wouldn't stalk him. :haha:)

I hope my dad is able to go this fall. He's had a rough time lately. Thanks again for the info on the hotels & hospitals.
