I double booked DTG so I could get my brother a free room for two nights. Anyway, my free play was already loaded on my card before I checked in, the same way the 4Q does it.

I gave them a little bartop play and the paytables on dollars were:
    DDB 9/5 97.87% return
    JOB 9/5 98.44%

iirc, both of these games were worse back in April. JOB on quarters was 8/6 98.39%, this trip.

9/5 DDB is what MSS pays. Cal is 9/6

I really liked the pool area and would consider a stay there.

That's good info. Thanks for the update! Maybe i'll hang out at the bar for a bit this trip.

To my knowledge, they haven't changed recently. What you have written should still be there.

And although it looks bad if you focus on the full house/flush payouts, the quarter 7/5 DDB with multilevel progressive has an AWAK meter that really moves (0.75% coin in). And Aces and 2-4s w/kicker are 0.5% each, with the royal being 0.25%. So that makes a 95.71% game average closer to 97.71% plus whatever the short-coiners freely add to the meter. And in Flusher's exploits, the AWAK got so high the game was >100%!

A failure to communicate on my part. Those were the paytables at the bar on Sunday, June 8th.

    Oh.

VPFree2 says that 9/5 JoB (dollars+) and 8/6 JoB (25c, 50c) have been there since Feb. or so. Also 9/6 TDB (98.15%) for dollars+ for anyone crazy enough to play that game.

Pay tables are one thing but a crappy beer offering trumps w/ever they decide on payback. One decent microbrewery and I'll give up a point.

Walked thru in April and didn't even look at the pay tables after I saw a "piss" poor beer offering.

Hang on now, Joe, are you saying the DDB progressives at the bar at the Downtown Grand is 9/5 DDB? Because it was 7/5 when I was there. I would be pretty encouraged with that improvement if it were true.

9/5 for dollars, no progressive I think.

But the progressive on the 7/5 quarter game is good enough to be almost as high returning as 9/5.

I'm not much of a VP player but I'm glad to see the DTG give more people more of a reason to go there. I agree with the post that said they have a blah beer selection. That should be very easy to fix; surprised that they didn't have a better array of brews to begin with. I think the DTG is nice and their BJ games are pretty decent with very friendly staff. I'll be staying at the GN in about a month and I'll make a post here on their bar top VP.

Does anyone know how closely affiliated Downtown Grand is with Pizza Rock? The reason I ask is because Pizza Rock has an awesome beer selection, and if the two places have any connection at all the blah beer selection at Downtown Grand becomes even more baffling.

Not sure about Pizza Rock but they are quasi-related with Triple George right next door to Pizza Rock. Triple George is a primo steakhouse and has lots of excellent beer on tap.

Yes, 9/5 DDB on dollars. To be honest, I didn't notice if it was a progressive RF.

The 7/5 DDB progressive is quarters. It seems unlikely that it has changed. :(

They are included in all their promotions for DTG, but we had a $20 food credit and it didn't include Pizza Rock.

Going to Vegas in 2 weeks and will not be visiting DTG. For crying out loud the Victory Casino Cruise out of Port Canaveral here in Florida has a 9/5 DDB progressive and 9/5 JOB. I would think a Vegas casino could at least do better than that!

Definitely surprised by that cruise. I didn't get the impression they were under a lot of competition! If you are the only player in town 9/5 DDB + prog or 9/5 JoB is too generous, in my Gary Loveman perspective...lol
