Booked Mirage after much debate - we leave in 15 days! Question is.. I already accepted an offer for extra $13 a day to get the Resort King rooms on 24th/25th floor... what is my other best option for an upgrade? I know the $20 trick can work.. but what should I ask for. Most important Note... I'll be there April 30-May3rd... night before mayweather fight which means they will be pretty busy that last night Thanks!
I assume these are the rooms that used to be called "Tower Deluxe", since I have never heard "Resort King" before and I have stayed at Mirage for the last 5 trips. The only next step up is a suite. I got one for one night because I had a lot of trouble with my door key card. Each floor has one or more, not sure. They are one bedroom but still quite roomy with huge bathrooms. A step up from that would be the multi-bedroom suites on the top floors. Try it, maybe you'll get lucky. One thing I do know for certain is to not get fooled into a "Strip View", which gives you a great view of Casino Royale and The Venetian/Palazzo. You want the "Pool View", which is a darn good view of the central and south strip.
pretty sure the next step up is the tower suite. probably pretty hard to get that on a $20 upgrade. that last night will be what gets you. might be able to swing it if your willing to move for that last night.
If a suite/room upgrade isn't available, maybe just go for a view. Mirage should have some decent strip view rooms facing south (I think). Maybe ask for one of thoses. Should be easy as it's still within the same room category as you booked. Watching the lights of the strip at night are one of my favorite things about Vegas.
Yes my mistake it's the resort tower king. Thanks for the view advice, I'd be so surprisrd if I got a suite (and thrilled) I've read tipping more than $20 doesn't do much unless you just pay X per night if offered. Also I booked through M Life VIP via phone , I won't pay until check out as they'd rate my play right? Had this done last time at MGM but I had the first night comped there, not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks as always.
It all depends on what they have available when you check in. I seem to always get there when sold out so never a thing. Last month I couldn't even get my room type with smoking at the MGM. They said I could downgrade from a suite to a regular room for smoking but didn't. The front desk did say to check back the next day to see if something opened up but since I was there just 2 nights I didn't bother.
