So I was reading this article: http://www.vegaschatter.com/story/2012/5/7/101655/5599/vegas-travel/Smoke+%27Em+If+The+Casino%27s+Got+%27Em?obref=obinsite I have never seen or heard of anyone doing this before. I do like a cigar when I play and it would be nice to know that if I ran out or just forgot one that I could just request one from the CWs. Does anyone know any casino that does this or has gotten this?
If you tip enough, the CW will bring you absolutely anything. There's a wonderful cocktail waitress at the Mirage who brings me anything I ask for. Just cost me $5 or $10 when she comes around. I tip her at least $100/night. On the floor... not the high limit area.
When playing in the Palace Court in CP, players routinely ask for cigars from the "cigars, cigarettes!" girl who comes around. The pit has to sign for them, but will do so for any player there ($100 min.) Some of the cigars are not cheap but they do not have any of the major brands recognizable to my novice eye.
In an annecdote relating to this: My wife and I were are playing craps really late (maybe 3 or 4 am) at Ballys one evening. We are pretty hammered and looking for an excuse to go to bed, but the craps table was choppy and we couldn't seem to escape...we are basically the only people playing and had been there for what seems like an hour or more when I finally ran out of cigarretes and said "Damn, better call it a night... all outta smokes." Box man and pit boss quickly snap into action, call cocktail waitress over..."Get these two a couple packs of Marlboros, quick!" After being re-supplied with tobbaco, we played for another hour or so, leaving the table a loser, but enjoying ourselves just the same... Moral to the story, a (smart) casino will take almost any resonable measure to keep you playing!
I have found its dependent on who you ask. I always tip well, some will get you one and some will send the girl selling. Kind of like anything else. I needed my bank to do something for me, something they have done in the past. I had to call 3x to get someone on the phone that would do it. It was then "no problem, done", went from mission impossible to just that easy.
I've never asked for a cigar but have at CWs bring me packs of cigarettes (some I had to pay for, some comped). At the nicer places I would just ask: if she can't get you one she will just say so, if she can't get you one for free she'll tell you how much it will cost and you can decide. You can also ask her if there is a cigar girl going around the casino and if there is she can send her your way.
Every casino in Vegas I've stayed at will comp cigars or cigs at the tables depending on your play. I know Aria is also $100 min because a dealer was talking to me about how ridiculous he thought that was. I remember it wasn't too long ago where at MGM at least, they kept cartons of the popular smokes right in the pit. So if you wanted Marlboro Lights or something like that the pit boss could just give them to you. They don't do that anymore though.
Smokes Yeah, back in the day I was playing low stakes Pai Gow at Barbary Coast and got like 2 packs of smokes for free from a CW. I actually haven't even asked in years. Assumed that was a thing of the past.
