Does anyone use LVA coupons with the coupons detached?

What is your experience with coming in with the LVA coupon detached from the book? I have an Ellis Island coupon but it has already been detached from the book.

 

I place them in the correct spot in the LVA book and remove them as usual when redeeming them. It keeps them organized and I have to have the LVA book to redeem my coupons anyway. They stay in place because I use those little sticky flag tabs to organize my LVA coupons, saves fiddling when I'm half in the bag.

Never, never, never. It clearly states that they must be torn out in front of the casino personnel. Failure to do so will cause Anthony to reign down a mountain of wrath on you. OK, all of the preceding was tongue-in-cheek. Of course, I think most owners of the book have them torn out, or at least mostly torn out and do the fake tear-out.

Neverr had the book with me when I use them, only once did the dickhead dealer at Bills I believe ask if I had the book, it was the middle of summer and I said "no I dont have a big thick book in my pants", the pitboss said no problem.

There was a time when one black jack pit character at Ellis Island was a real jerk about it and demanded the book even when it was the American Casino Guide.

 

tried it once at binions steakhouse and they wanted to see the book, didnt work out very well! Bought the memebership this year!

 

In the past, I had about 80% success with using the coupons torn out without the book but every once in a while someone would tell me I wasn't supposed to tear them out and asked to see the book. Only once did someone deny me the use of the loose coupon when I showed them the book (but I did go back the next day to a different cashier and successfully do the "fake tear out"). That was at the Mirage buffet .... they are well known to sometimes "demand" to tear it out themselves. The Mirage is a very good buffet (and the coupon is in high demand) so I now trade it for other, more customer friendly places.

Since I always buy at least one book for my wife and I, now (for at least the last 3 years), I always have the book with me and do the "fake tear out". I have very seldom had any issues with that .... if they say anything I just say "Sorry, I'll be sure to let you tear it out next time".

 

The only place I've ever had an issue was the Mirage buffet. The cashier just asked to see the book so I pulled out 3 of them and asked which one do you want?

 

I've been asked a few times, but I can't specifically remember where. Maybe Station casino buffets? Always bring it with me to be on safe side, though it would be so much easier to rip 'em out in advance.

 

I had the bartender at Ellis island refuse to take the drink coupon that used to be in it, i guess 2 years ago. Luckily i had the ACG free drink coupon also! but that same bartender is still at Ellis Island.

 

LVA different plan from ACG

I carry the LVA booklet in my travel vest with the coupons that I want to use already cut horizontally and then I tear them out vertically in front of the casino employee. That way they are still attached but minimally so. The ACG is mucho libris, so I go ahead and cut those out completely but I also carry the little identification card that comes in the booklet and mine is signed and laminated for that permanent, official look. I have never encountered a problem with either.

 

The cashier gave me a real hassle last year at the Mirage buffet. She ended up taking it, but not before a good public shaming about not having the book.

I've packet the ACG around Vegas on a couple of cheapo trips. The 1st trip I loved the book, I used the casino membership rewards coupons that gave swag, free play or free food credits. I love the book, and have 2 this year. I carry it around in a very small sport backpack and it does get old toting it around. As a guy, in the evening and dressed up, its hard to sport a huge coupon book and look cool.
About 3 years ago, the 1st year using the book, Ellis rewards club lady refused a coupon for some bonus for signing up because I tore the coupon out in the hotel room. I thought it was a heck of a way to welcome new customers. She did try to explain that locals were forging coupons.
I make it a point to have the book with me while using a coupon AND to read the back of the coupon for any requirements.
This year, South Point got me. I've never been there before, I made it a point to go for my free buffet coupon. I forgot to read the back of the coupon and went straight to the rewards signup booth, tore out the coupon in front of a very nice lady. She advised me I had to signup, use the card for an amount of points to get the free buffet. Great, takes me no time to earn the required points, go back to the club, different nice lady, I try to be nice and charming during these time as it works for me....So. she reads the back of the coupon, she checks with 2 other coworkers, finally some lead shift worker agreed with everyone else, and prints out a coupon to take to the buffet. Whew, now I'm hungry! Both my ACG coupon and the printed out coupon handed to me stated, not good for Friday, Saturday, holiday or special occasion buffets. I was good, Sunday night, no line, walk right up and was the ol' , 3 workers checking out the coupon and then was told it was not good for that evening. She was polite, and my face showed my hunger and frustration at that point. Finally, a manager offered to call over to the rewards club to check. REALLY!
He got off the phone, now people are lining up behind me, and says he will take the coupon this time only. He states that its a fish night buffet and that was the issue, Sunday night fish buffet?! I told him my time in Vegas is worth more than the trouble for this free buffet. I started to feel guilty and embarrassed over this thing.
I ate so good, food was good, sever was great, clean...and good fish. Seven employees to okay a free buffet coupon? Wow....

 

I guess it depends on who is working. I've never had a problem, ever. I usually have the book in my pocket, but tear it out prior to the approach.
