My wife and I are considering a trip to the Valley of Fire State Park during one of the days of our upcoming trip. I would like to rent a car (pick up and drop off same day) for this. We would probably be taking this excursion at some point in the middle of our trip, so we wouldn't be renting at the airport. We're staying at Caesars Palace. I see that there's a Hertz facility at Caesars, but from what I can tell, the prices are much higher there than I could get at one of the rental facilities. Would anyone have any recommendation on where and with whom I should rent (company and location)? I'd like to avoid having to wait in line for hours to get a car, which I've read can sometimes be a problem in Vegas. Also, am I permitted to bring my own GPS to use in a rental vehicle? I apologize for my ignorance...I don't rent cars very often.

    Thanks.....

The best deal I have found is to walk to the Westin Hotel, its on Flamingo and a a short walk from the strip. Its behind Flamingo hotel. You will pay probably half of what you will pay at Caesars, especially if you book in advance.

    Good luck, its Enterprise!!

You can definitely bring your own gps, make sure you have a cigarette lighter power adapter.

Best deal on a car since you are a Total Rewards member would be to go to the total rewards website and go into TR getaways, check car rental prices there. They are by far the cheapest I have seen. I got a car for 5 days from dollar for just over $100, nothing I have seen comes close to that price!

Casino car rental rates are almost always higher than you will find offsite. Great tip about going through TR, you'll save money that way. It's certainly convenient to rent from the hotel you're staying at but it all depends if you can tolerate paying more. We are also renting a car for a day, maybe 2, in the middle of our May trip. I just did some quick price checking and Hertz at the Palms, where we're staying, is higher than across the street at the Gold Coast.

Wife and I rented a car for same trip, rented a mustang convertable from the Cosmo location, did valley and then to hoover dam and back, was about $240 for all including gas,(just wanted a convertable, I am sure other cars cheaper) Took the long route though Lake Meade Nat Park , and reloaded at the liquor store as well. Actually saved money that day since I was not in the casino
