In vegas middle of february for 10 nights and am quite keen on going to the gun store and have a go at some guns. My question is do you need to book in advance or can you just go and do it on the day?

    Just Walk in

Have been there multiple times and never had an appointment - always fun especially the fully auto stuff like the saw.

I've shot pretty much every type of gun except a fully auto, I would like to but kinda think it'd be a waste of money. Think I'd get much excitement out of it?

The M249 SAW is one bad ass fully automatic gun. It was part of one of the packages we purchased at the Gun Store. I'll never forget the experience. http://thegunstorelasvegas.com/portfolio/try-an-m249-saw/

Here are some of the other guns you can shoot

Are the packages per person or per group? Also can you purchase more ammo?

According to their web site it is first come first served. It appears that they actually charge an additional $100 to book an appointment, lol.

The nice lady on chat suggested that they are much less busy 9AM to noon.

I failed to ask about purchasing additional ammunition. I'm looking for a good place to take my wife to test drive a couple of 9mm and .380's pre-purchase...

I'd check gun stores in your area for test driving guns like that. I know here in Western WA there's a couple stores where you can "rent" them for use on their indoor range. Have to buy their ammo. They don't want people bringing in their own hot reloads. Do a search for gun forums in your area, usually lots of knowledgeable people out there. Also check out the Hometown forum section on ar15.com

Not to hijack the thread, but this is very rural Kansas. Te nearest shop with a range is 2 1/2 hours away. She thinks she wants a 9mm, I feel she would be better able to handle a .380. She is open to either, as long as it is pink. lol...

My Springfield Armory XDM (9mm) is a comfortable size for me (a petite female).

I bet if you did it once and had someone record it on your phone you would get your moneys worth by replaying and showing it to your friends.

Granted a .380 is better than nothing but if possible go with the 9mm.
Depending on which model odds are the 9mm will actually handle better than the .380.
