    Hi all,

Thought I would introduce myself now I have finally signed up for what is a fantastic messageboard.

I'm Alex, and I'm from Reading, but now live in London. (Reading the place, not reading the action!). I've just turned 23 and went to Vegas for my one and only trip so far in the summer of 2012 during the middle of my Route 66 road trip.

During that stay I was on a bit of a budget and ended up in America's best value inn on my first night when we arrived, before picking the Luxor for the last 3 nights I was there.

Since then I have been aching to go back ever since, and last month booked my trip to come back over for the Superbowl (Huge NFL fan, although through tired and bleary eyes), in the hope that my beloved Packers would be playing in it (Although with Rodgers injury, it seems unlikely).

It just so happened that the Superbowl coincides nicely with my brothers birthday, who turns 21 in January, so he's decided to come with me, having never made the trip to America before. We've booked up for 5 nights from the Wednesday of Superbowl week until the Monday evening at the Monte Carlo.

My favoured games are normally roulette, blackjack and for my sins, wheel of fortune. Last time, I don't think I got involved enough on table games, so am making it my aim to play in a Poker tournament or two while I'm there, having played online a bit before. I also really want to learn Craps, and have read a bit about how it's played but it's still sort of lost on me.

Absolutley cannot wait to get out there, and can see myself spending as much time on this site before then as I will actually in Vegas.

    Alex

Nice intro Alex, welcome to the board. It's great that you are going back and your brother is joining you. I'm also pulling for the Pack so hopefully you will be in Vegas watching them!

I don't really care for your taste in football (or football) teams. :poke: But your taste in vacation destinations is impeccable.

Scan through the "casino gambling" section. There are plenty of threads to help a craps newbie. Or, if you can't find what you're looking for, start a new thread. Craps is a lot of fun and there are plenty of veterans here to help you get a better understanding of the game.

Welcome aboard, Alex, and best of luck in February!

    Ahoy Alex.

As with a lot of casino games craps is pretty simple if you focus on the basics and ignore the confusing sucker bets.

Check out the Wizard of Odds site as there are a couple of introduction videos for craps play.

Thanks all for the kind welcome, and it is down to this site that I will be partaking in pursuit of hitting a Royal for the first time on VP when I'm there.

I'll check out Wizard of Odds and see if I can make some sort of sense to it.

I am from the UK also, and was a bit scared to venture into a craps game, seen all the whoopin,n,hollerin, n hi-5ing, looked like a great game to get into and be part of the action. I first dipped my toe in the water at Orleans, picked a quiter table with only the shooter and 3 other people. Laid my money on the felt and said "change only" then explained to the dealer that I had never played before. He talked me through the basic pass line bet and taking the odds etc, no big deal really, I actually won about $150 in that 20 min session.
As has been said on here, stay away from the sucker bets and keep iut simple till you get the hang of it, then.... stay away from the sucker bets!!!

I'm staying on the strip at MC, so might not be too quiet but I guess if I get up somewhere along the strip will be more than happy to show me during the quiet periods. Cheers!
