I have been feverishly playing myVegas with the hopes of scoring one of the Bellagio buffet awards. I then learned that that buffet is blacked out for our dates (Dec. 26 - Dec. 30).

I have heard good things about both the Aria and Mirage buffets. I looking for a consensus as to which this group would recommend. Please give you your opinions, Aria or Mirage buffet?

I remember reading reports in the past on other travel sites that even for the holiday dates, they don't do much in the way of stepping up the options for buffet goodies. Any other reports?

Between those two, I would go with aria. Better food and better ambiance

    It's a toss-up between the two.

Thanks all for your suggestions. Maybe we can amass enough points to do both during our stay. I noticed on the myVegas awards area that Aria limits usage to Monday thru Thursday, I don't see any blackout dates for the Mirage.

Thanks thenuke1 for your input. We've loitered in the Aria, but never ate at their buffet. I, too, have heard good things about the buffet. Hopefully the buffet pass will still be offered on myVEGAS when I get enough points. The only downside that I see is that the award is only good Monday thru Thursday. The Mirage passes don't seem to have any blackout days. Like I mentioned above, maybe we'll get enough points to do both. I guess the best "play" is to get there around 2:45 on a lunch pass and eat slowly until they change over to the evening offerings.

In fact those are the last 2 buffets I have eaten at in Vegas. Both were for lunch and both were good. If I were paying I would tell you that they are pretty close in "value", however if you are getting them "comp" I would not hesitate to take Aria and here is why.
    1) Ambiance, lots of natural light and a good pool view at Aria.
    2) Dessert. Mirage desserts were not very good in my opinion
    3) Fresh made to order Salad at Aria was really good.
    4) Real (at least to my mid-western pallet) Indian food at Aria
    5) Salmon that tasted like salmon at not just "fishy" at Aria
Here are the points for Mirage.
    1) The Asian food was better. Aria has the cool bamboo baskets put the food was meh
    2) service was better at Mirage.

Agree with Chickenbone but we still prefer the Mirage.

Easy to get to from the strip and rarely a line.
Best thick piece of medium-rare prime rib I've ever eaten.

    Both are good.

For our taste preferences we rank them:
    Mirage
    Wicked Spoon
    Bellagio
Bacchanal (hate the generally long wait)
    Wynn

    Good eating

Thanks for your opinion. I'm surprised that you have placed Mirage at the top of your list. For us, we love Bellagio and Wynn on the strip and the M Resort for off strip buffets. We really liked the Wicked Spoon on our last trip 2 years ago. I've never been able to find any discount coupons for Bellagio or Wynn so it looks like we will try to score at least a 2-4-1 for Mirage and Aria to give them a try.
