Anyone ever have any problems with theft from a hotel room safe? I've never used one but I'm considering using one on an upcoming trip. Thanks.....:peace::beer:

Absolutely no trouble, ever. I would never stay at a hotel in Vegas that does not have one. I highly recommend the in room safes!

Always try the default code 0000 in case this has not been changed, unlikely I know, but it only takes a few second to check.

I have never had any problems, you will hear stories of people who have had stuff taken from safes, but I,m sure there is more to those stories than meets the eye, i.e. someone has obtained the 4-6 digit number by some means or other.

Only concern I had, was one time at the Orleans, my safe was not bolted or secured, just sat on top of the shelf above the clothes rail in the vanity area, called down and had someone come up and secure it, this was quite a few years ago when the safes were just put into the rooms at Orleans and I guess someone had just missed it when installing.

I've only been to Vegas four times but I've never had any problem using the safe.

In all of many many trips to Vegas, I've never had a theft out of a room safe.

I'm even on a 3 trip roll. Last 3 times the previous guests have left the safe open upon leaving so I haven't had to call housekeeping to send a tech up to unlock it.

So this is my message to anyone and everyone. Leave your safe open when checking out. It's such a pain in the butt to have to call down to get a tech up to unlock it if the previous guest left it locked. Especially when they take their good old time and all you want to do is get down to the casino and start gambling.

Never had a problem with anything taken from our room or safe thus far. We always test the safe before using it.

We used to put stuff in them, but not so much anymore. We ALMOST NEVER have our room serviced and have the DO NOT DISTURB sign up the entire trip. The cuts down the people coming in and out for any reason. Laptops and Ipads are often sitting out.

Makes me feel better than a safe or stuff hidden.

Why someone thinks locking the safe on departure is funny is beyond my logic. Perhaps the things I say about them might even be a curse. Hope so.

I've arrived too many times to finding it locked. I now start by checking that first. You would think this would be part of the check list for the maids. The casino is losing all that valuable losing time I could give them.

It is shocking how fast security can open the safe with their electronic gizmo. Presumably there is a record of which machine opened your safe.

We always use the safe and never had any problems. We keep our tablets, my jewelry - never a problem.
We have not had the problem with it being locked, good to know.. that will be first on our list to check from now on!

Had this happen once at Flamingo.

Phoned the desk. They sent up two guys, a security type and a techie type. The techie had it open with the test box. Both of them witnessed that it was empty and they reset it for me.

What if the previous guest left their entire roll in there?

I'd say "C'mon guys, let's work a deal and split this bitch up among ourselves."
