What is you favorite place to get morning coffee?...and/or...where do you like to drink it to watch Fremont street sights and people? I know it's an old question but can't find recent posts.

Don't know about the view but I picked up coffee at Dunkin Donuts at Fremont.

I like to walk to the Walgrens and pick up a LVRJ and then walk a couple blocks south to the bank plaza that has a starbucks attached to it. Get a coffee there, it is a dollar cheaper than any starbucks in the FSE, read the paper either inside or on the patio and watch the courthouse/bank employees get their morning fix and head either to work, or over to the courthouse. There are some beautiful women, dressed to the t that work in those places!

Drinks are free while gaming, and you're in downtown Las Vegas. Why pay for drinks?

It amazes me that some people do so, whether it be at a chain coffee place or a bar somewhere...

If I'm in the mood to drink coffee, I'll be at a machine or a table and order one... maybe Irish coffee, with Bailey's... maybe whip cream on it, too...

So, for the cost of a tip to the cocktail waitress, I'll get one with minimal hassle and concentrate on my game...

Sure, my answer would be different if I were somewhere else, but this is Vegas after all.

    Thoughts on Coffee

Maineguy... from earlier posts on various boards, found these ideas ...
    ---
Always looking for a machine or bar top with best view for people watching... Enjoy playing at last seat toward Fremont at big bar in front of 4Qs... Saw picture showing last seat at end of Golden Gate bar which would have a great vantage point... Cool spot to watch stuff 'occur' at West end of Fremont, near Plaza/LVC, is deck/lanai area at top of escalators, before the walk to The Cal, at MSS, next to the elevator drop off; double doors to a alcove to sip coffee or a cold one at sunset and all kinds of stuff going on... McDonalds in The D right by Fremont canopy, has excellent hot coffee at reasonable prices... if you are a senior, they have a lower price, usually less than a dollar.
    ---
But, I agree with raisingoo, while staying at The D, except for my first cup from their McDonald’s so I don’t have to wait... I order from the cocktail people at my favorite slot...that’s my favorite view. In the evenings, if I am staying up late I will order a special coffee like ...coffee with bailey’s, kahlua, amaretto grand marnier, chambord, frangelica or tia maria...
    ---
Only 52 more days... and I'll be sipping one of these before going to my room at The D on Christmas Night.

Both Starbucks and Nugget have outdoor patios right on Fremont. The Nugget area has a gas firepit in the center, but I'm not sure if they are open in the morning. Starbucks for sure, is.

I know it is crazy but I think there a lot of people who are not gambling at all hours. Even for me - is it worth putting a $20 into a machine just to get comped a free casino coffee?

You can walk to Dunkin Donuts and pay $2.50 for a good coffee. Minimum hassle involved

Normally, I would agree with the "why pay?" sentiment...it's certainly how I feel about the alcohol. But I have yet to experience a really good cup of coffee at the tables...Golden Gate has come fairly close to "fairly drinkable", but most others are so bad as to be actual work just to finish them.
I reached the point now where I get my coffee at the Fremont Dunkin', and I order an "energy drink" at the tables if I want caffeine.

My favorite morning stop, and IMHO the best coffee downtown: The Beat coffeehouse at 6th and Fremont (right across from El Cortez.) When I was there last month they were only charging $1 for morning coffee. It's worth the walk and puts Starbucks coffee to shame...

I go to that Starbucks also! It's in the BofA building so I hit the ATM also if need be. It's a nice stroll when everyone is heading to work and I'm on vacation.

golden gate coffee is alright. I think they use the same stuff as at Dupars.

It improves with a bit of brandy..

That's a good tip. When I travel I like to get away from the glitz and just relax.

throw money in the machine to get service, wait usually 5 or 10 minutes for the coffee and likely put some more money in the machine plus the waitresses tip and you get crappy coffee for "free"
