Can anyone tell me what kind of comp offers I should expect from the Palms for $30k+ per day coin in on video poker?

I'm not a local -- live in Southern California.

I called the host who took care of my room charges after my last trip and asked her if she thought I would get a New Years Eve offer and she said she thought I would, but she would put me in for a room comp now for NYE/NYD nights that I want. The room she booked me in for is the Superior King in the Fantasy Tower, currently the cheapest room in the place. Not trying to be greedy, but I thought maybe I'd get a room a little bit better?

    Play history
I hadn't played at Palms at all in a couple years and dropped in on August 11 and just played a couple thousand coin in -- wasn't staying there.

Stayed one night (paid for the room) September 2 and did $37,059 coin in and lost.

Stayed two nights on husband's comped room September 27 & 28.
    Sept 27 coin in $33,657
Sept 28 coin in $46,630 lost.

Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated! I kinda wanna know if I'm putting my eggs in the right basket or not.

i dont play vp or slots just tables wont be much help.

but what you also need here to is get a nye wrist band good for all the clubs comped.its very important otherwise can set you back a couple hundred per person.

also the fantasy tower was allways the most expensive tower not sure how that has changed since they redid the old tower.

they do tables differnt than v/p and slots there as you ge=et actual money on your card for playing where table players dont.

    hope that helps some.

Thanks. Does the Palms only have the nightclub stuff going on NYE or do they have invited only players parties like other properties do? I'm 52 -- too old for the Palms nightclubs. I just don't party like that anymore (kinda never really did!).

The regular Fantasy Tower Superior room starts at $59 a night whereas the Ivory Tower regular rooms start at $79, so what she has me booked into for NYE/NYD is, indeed, the cheapest room in the house. I don't know how the Palms rates yet, so I don't know if my play deserves more than that or not. I know at many other properties it would. Daily VP play of $30k - $40k coin in got me suites pretty much everywhere else I played (except Caesars Palace -- I could have a suite in an old tower or a regular room in the newer towers).

I guess I'm wondering if this host is shorting me or being fair?

first your never to old second ,there will be atleast 4 parties and a concert open to all but a host can get a wrist band that covers all the parties for free ,there color coded.

as for the concert you need to buy tickets or get them comped it will be a big headliner notsure if its anounce yet open to all.

they do have the high limit room where you can drink for free if gambling or they know you.

    hope that helps some
ask if u have any other questions as im at the palms a few days a week

Thanks for the party/concert info. I'll have to ask the host about the wrist bands.

I understand about the pecking order and wasn't really expecting a suite for NYE (especially since I only have 3 good days of play in at the Palms), but I kinda thought being in the lowest priced room in the place wasn't really what I deserve, either. But like I said, I really don't know how the Palms rates, so that could very well be where I belong.

I appreciate your help. I'm sure I'll have more questions and I'm sorry about that! lol

your worrying about the room to much as i said your in the fantasey tower which was always the nicer tower and newer one,

the reason the old tower is more becuase it was just redone about a year ago and rebranded the ivory tower.

the funnier thing is when i stayed comped there and i was put in the fantasey instead of the old tower i had to pay off a higher comp room rate in my gambling at the end.

ps make sure the host comps of the resort fees

I am not a slot player

Palms seems to have Club Palms down to a science and is pushing everything off on to that to control expenses.

My impression, it is not that great.

From my fuzzy non slot playing memory

You had around 116,000 coin in

Since you are saying she, is it Mickey? This is what I would ask her, what is my comp rate?

    0.5% * 116,000 = $580

    1.0% * 116,000 = 1,160

    2.0% * 116,000 = 2,320

Whatever you do, do not trust my numbers whatsoever. I might be right, but the odds are that I am completely wrong.

Now with those comps, you can get rooms, meals, drinks, spa services, etc. I am not sure if you can use the kiosks they have around the property of if you have to go to Club Palms. Since I was special, I had to always go to Club Palms my last few trips and get them to print me a comp ticket.

From your $ 580 in comp you have the host will deduct $59 per night, so for four nights, that would be $236 + the resort fee. Which is around 1/2 of your comps.

As paperposter says, New Years Eve is a MONEY event. You think you are special, trust me, on these events HALLOWEEN, New Years Eve, Superbowl, you are not special unless you guarantee $1,000,000 coin in. If you do not like their offer, someone else will.

I'm not saying I'm special, I'm just trying to figure out the Palms comp system. I've played in many systems and learned them pretty well, but it seems kinda hard to get concrete info about the Palms system.

Honestly, I am used to being a little spoiled in Vegas with that kind of play, so I likely do have high expectations.

That total coin in was not in one trip. I stayed one night Sept 2 and then stayed 2 nights Sept 27 & 28. Being from So Cal I have the ability (and potential for the casino) to be there frequently, so that has helped me with comps in the past. I also never stay long, so they get play out of me without huge comp bills most of the time.

Last trip Geno Pacini told me my THEO was $1600 on my $80k coin in which I thought was a bit low. Playing at Silverton my THEO would have been double that when I used to play there. And on that $1600 THEO (actual loss of $2600) he was willing to comp off $500 over and above the room comp (but we were on my husbands offer, so maybe that didn't even factor in). So, if he was comping on the actual loss that would be a little less than 20% which is low for an out-of-towner -- most places comp 30% (20% for locals). So, I am trying to figure all of this out so I know what to expect in the future.

I've heard of Mickey, but didn't realize she was no longer at the Palms. However, the host who booked me for NYE for 2 nights is Wai-Mei Borge.

Yes, it is and so is Silverton. Most locals casinos operate close to the same way and offer a higher comp percentage to non-locals than to locals. Maybe Palms operates differently. That's part of what I'm trying to find out.

Maybe I should just be happy that I have good games to play and leave it at that, but I've always liked to learn as much as possible about the comp system at each place I play.

yes locals at the palms is differnt, i forgot but they only look back i belive 90 days ,so after that your discretionary comp falls off i belive for tables dont know about slots.

palms is a higher end property than silvertone so thats something to etake in consideration.

as a local you get more slot ,food and show stuff as direct marketing that has no effect on your primary or desrcationary comps.

funny becuase boyd gives basicaly nothing as a local to me and i avarage when i played there a couple times 50$ to 200$ a hand

theres no logic , but i cant hurt to ask all they can say is no.

ps genio at the palms is a great host he will go up and beyond to make you happy show him some love and you will get back in spades, just my 2 cents and i recomend nines steak house its rock

as an out of towner you will get free rooms and show tickets and tournaments that locals arent invited too.

i was getting free 250$ a week table bet and every other week a free 100$ for food and 20$ a week in free slots dollars and a extra 10 dollars for food.

these where totaly differnt than my comps from a host.

so basicaly a free 1000$ a month i table bets and 200$ in free food plus some slot stuff on the side

Yes, Palms is higher end than Silverton, to be sure. I was treated like a queen at Silverton for that kind of play -- was even offered the use of Rossi's private jet from LAX if I wanted it (but preferred to drive in -- I hate to fly). Like I said, I was pretty spoiled.

Even at other places I was treated well for that play or less, so I'm just trying to figure out what I should expect from the Palms.

I know I won't get offers like you do as a local, but I'm hoping I get something comparable to what I used to get elsewhere. Currently, I have no marketing offers from them.

I like the Palms, but I really don't want to put all my eggs in one basket if they're not going to come through with what I want from them. I played 2 days in July at Harrah's Rincon to get back to diamond (I took a couple years off from gambling), but I don't see myself putting all my eggs in that basket to get back to 7 Stars, either. MGM pissed me off, so I really don't want to play in their system again. Ugh, I just want to go to Vegas and have a good time without worrying about whether or not the casino will cover my charges, darn it. I'm letting it get too complicated.

The Silverton offered you their private jet for doing $30k coin in VP per day?? I do that in a couple hours a bunch of times and I'm lucky to get a room and a sandwich. I never heard of this Silverton place but it sounds dope!

That explains why I hadn't seen her on my last couple of trips. I don't look for her, but I used to see her wandering around, and being a red head made her stand out.

When the hosts had to sit in the VIP Services room, I would chat them up. It was always fun to listen to them tell stories about their players.

Good luck justmare. If you figure out the system that will make you the expert.

Like Paperposter says, N9NE is a good steak house and I will throw in my favorite, Alize, for an awesome view of the Strip at night with good food, and a good wine selection. With some fabulous Cognac.

I was platinum in the MGM system, too, but just lost it Oct 1. I have 2 upcoming reservations at their properties, but don't plan to play much. I see no future there.

I'll have to just stick with it and see what happens, I guess. lol

Nove and N9ne are excellent -- haven't tried Alize yet, but will in the future. Thanks for the recommendation.

No, Silverton didn't offer me use of the private jet JUST for $30k a day. It was when they started their new system and I was the highest tier level, Diamond (played there a LOT). I was one of very few diamond players from So Cal that they could make that LAX private jet offer to. I also used to go to Laker's and Kings games in the private box at Staples Center and they would send us to Chargers games in club seats and pay for everything we wanted to eat/drink. Silverton also has a houseboat and I was able to take it out with just my own group of people invited (with the crew, of course). They would supply food and drinks -- we supplied tips. Silverton really had it going on there for a while. I have no idea if any of those perks are still available. I chose to move on.

$1600 theo on 80k coin-in assumes a 98% payback. that's actually pretty good for the player. they could assume 99% payback and only give you $800 theo. any place that calculates theo on VP at 96% payback like you say Silverton used to is going to go out of business. and comps on actual loss are usually 10%, not 20 or 30%. 40% on theo or 10% on actual loss is the industry standard, but can be adjusted slightly upwards in some cases.

there's no way you're going to get suites and F&B and stuff on that kind of theo. especially on NYE, the absolute #1 busiest time of the year. you are lucky the host even offered to give you a room upfront without having to wait for an offer. most of the times those offers come out and you call up and all the rooms are already booked anyway.
