    My Trip Report

The warm breezes of summer have faded, the leaves are dropping off the trees, and the Funkhouser Froze Treat truck has been winterized and put it up on blocks.

It was a tough summer with the Ice Cream Truck wars. Gaddafi's Ice Cream has been moving in on my territory, in the suburbs, backed by Sonny "The Pick" Johnson. Forcing me to increase my aldermanic protection fees. I hoping this will all be settled at the convention this year in Miami. [IMG]

Its time to break free of the bondage of labor and flee to the new southern gambling meca. No not Tunica, Not Biloxi either, beautiful New Orleans and Harrahs.

Following my mantra of maximum comp value this year, the typical CET 4 free nights in LV was not looking like a good deal with air fare rates as high as they are. Imagine my surprise as I checked my online offers to find 4 free nights in NOLA sitting in my inbox, with $100 food comps, and $50 in free play. Checking air fare rates, I managed to score $208 RT making this a max comp value weekend.

This report with be 4 nights in the Big Easy over Columbus day weekend (Oct 11 - 15th) Friday to Tuesday. Participants will be myself, MF (Mrs. Funkhouser), Triple J (Cousin), and Bayou Belle his wife.

Bankroll for this trip is $2500 with $1k committed to table play, $1K to VP, and $500 for various low denom slots.

Dinning we plan on hitting The Court of Two Sisters for jazz brunch, Brennan's for dinner and awesome Banana's Foster desert. Plus the usual joints like Pat O'Briens and Acme Oyster House.

Hoping lighting strikes twice and I can re-produce the winning trip I had last year in Vegas over this weekend.

    Laissez les bons temps rouler!

    T-24 and counting

Okay were T-24 hours and counting for departure into the big easy. Unlike some scoffer's here, Funkhouser has begun packing. The wife is a real basket case the day we travel, so I have to get all my Sh!t together so I can run looking for her crap in the morning of our trip. Made sure to pack the important stuff, still looking for my lucky silver dollar I took last Oct to LV>

Weather in NOLA is looking good with temps in the 80's during day and upper 60's at night. First win of the trip is A boarding group on Southwest, and found a couple of free drink coupons. Practicing on my Bob Dancer VP software found me hitting 15 Quads on 4 hours of practice this week, with 4 of them being premium on DDB. Hopefully I can keep this streak going on the real thing. Of course the trifecta of wins would be a Royal, and then going balls deep and betting the win on a 11 /14 /17 split and popping it. Last trip to NOLA saw me catching two 3 card straight flushes, and re-couping some losses on Blackjack from bad pay single line VP.

Thanks for the heads up! Almost ate there last trip, but wife wanted to try Bourbon House. This was week before Superbowl and place had a wait when we walked past it. Will try to get over there for lunch this weekend.

Looks like a quiet weekend near the French Quarter with Saints playing away game, and the Louisana Seafood Festival happening in another end of town.

    From a former resident...

I'd suggest trying August for a nice meal with the wifey. Its about 2 blocks from Harrah's.

I'm not a big fan of Court of Two Sisters or Acme, but to each their own. I have to promote Stanley in Jackson Square for brunch. Seriously amazing food.

Stanley is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bananas Foster French Toast is great! We had breakfast there on our last day, nice seat by window, looking at Jefferson Square. That was the morning I bumped into George Lucas on Royal street, browsing the antique shops.

Were live from Nola in a cab doing 80 to the French Quarter. Flight was smooth 1 hr 25 mins out of Nashville. Due to wx SWA had some problems today so quick change had us in Nashville and then non stop to New Orleans. Eta to harrahs 45 mins if we don't die in cab ride.

Well last night was a bust. Except for drinking on bourbon street, getting slapped on the ass by some hot shot girls, and seeing a wedding rehearsal party coaxing 20 something girls to flash for beads. Quads were a drought with only two sets of town. 4G slow so will have to post pics later. Net loss 250.00. And 80.00 on hand grenades.

Well back to the room after a long day. Wife was good enough to let me hit the casino while she showered and got ready. This morning run fared a little better. Blew thru a hundred quickly at .50 bartop playing JOB. Since Harrahs had some slots I had not tried...Family Guy, Willy Wonka, etc. I decided to blow a hundy thru each of these. Faired well, trippled my money on Family Guy with back to back bonuses. Lois sex bonus and one where random symbols for each character is worth so many credits. Hit 5 peter symbols for 75, and rest for $38.00. Lois bonus was 102.00., on Wonka only got oompa loompa bonus for 98.00.

Net tally for trip is up $50 dollars. Plan to hit diamond lounge tonight, play a little, dinner at Brennan's, and back to Bourbon street.

Wife did a butt load of shopping today buying art around Jackson Square, and junk at French Market.

More pics from around the quarter.

I'm up and nursing a hangover this morning. I swear mixing booze is the surest way to f yourself up.

Last night I managed to hit a hr long streak and had the wife with me to ensure I left a winner. More to come..

After quick nap and shower we had drinks at lobby bar. Winced at the 55.00 check. But they were pouring them strong. After the booze shakes from this afternoon I quickly had a nice buzz. Triple J and his wife had met us, so we headed down to casino.

Now the place was packed due to FL gator fans in town and two conventions going on. Wife decided to hit night club area with her friend Bayou Belle. Triple J and I hit 25.00 blackjack. We each bought in for $500. First shoe was choppy and I saw split 2's at $100 a hand get ball punched to a 3 card draw to 21 on dealer hard 16. Down half my stake, I hit a hot shoe and went on progressive betting, with 6 hands winning I pressed up to $300. Somehow managed to take down $750.00 on shoe for 500.00 profit. Triple J finished 250.00. Next we saw roulette running even number streak. I bet my usual. 10, 14, 17, 22 inside with black and even. Dropped 250 on first three spins when I popped 22 with 50 straight up for $1750! Wife had texted girls were hungry just as I was colored up.

Since the CIG smoke in the casino was enough to put city of LA on air quality alert we bailed and headed To French quarter for dinner.

Girls did not feel like walking in heels so we ended up at Laundry's for dinner. Cajun style grouper was excellent. While wife had redfish. We managed to drink two bottles of white wine, dessert was an awesome chocolate cake. When all was said and done we did 240.00 in damage. Had 75 bucks in Landry select points to knock bill down.

We decided from here to hoof it to bourbon street for music. It was crazy tonight. Besides the usual party scene witnessed some young guy get kicked in nuts for grabbing some girls ass. He ended up on pavement with a gash on back of head. Police were there, but I guess he decided to let it go since he could have gotten charged with sexual assault.

We ended up at Cats Meow getting blitz on margaritas while watching drunk people attempt to sing karaoke. Called it a night around midnight since I was feeling rough. Wife was so drunk I probably could have called in any sexual favor, however at my age sleep sounded like a better idea.

Net win for day 2250.00! Factoring money spent on meals, booze and wife. Still ahead 1300!

Today is more touristy stuff. Plan to hit STP dollars this afternoon while watching NFL football.

Harrahs giveth and Harrahs taketh away. Afternoon bartops were brutal with NO quads to be found. Dumped $500 in short order, and another $300 at single line VP. Convinced VP is unwinnable this trip for me. On bright side managed to rack up 700 points and host hooked me up with $120 food voucher for Besh Steak. Off to Bourbon tonight. Considering low playing tommorow to ensure I book a win for trip.

Just a quick update before hitting the sack. Myself, MF, Triple J and BB all headed out for the evening and ended up starting over at Geisha Sushi drinking Martinis and watching the Saints upset with 5 seconds on the clock. When Brady thru TD all the air left the room. We decided to continue the party at diamond lounge where I switched to vodka and red bull. After really slow bar service, we decided for a quick run at the tables. Found a spot at three card for each of us. Spotted the ladies 2 bills each, I was in last spot with buy in of 600, and triple j was at first base with 3 hundred. First two hands were rough with deal flush draw and straight. I had pocket kings and took down ante bet. Following that I was on fire with 4 pairs, two flushes, a three of a kind, and a monster hand of 35 on bonus bet and catching the straight flush. Wife caught a few good hands and hit the five card payout with pocket jacks and dealer having jacks for a four of a kind. Colored up 2100, for a nice profit of 1500. Wife doubled up and TJ and BB both managed to squeeze $100 profit. Went over to Besh Steakhouse and had great meal.

Ladies wanted to dance over at masquare. So we went over after dinner to listen to music and dance. The crowds were light along with smokers. Left Harrahs around 10pm and walked down to Cafe du Monde for desert. Everyone was feeling worn out so we called it a night. Net profit back up to 3k for trip. Wife talked me into handing the money over, so we are booking this trip as a win.
