One Suite, Many People. Help Needed

Here's the deal. On my next trip I'd like to get a two bedroom suite, and toying around with dates it looks feasible as my out of pocket cost will be either nothing or pretty minimal. The properties I am interested in are Aria, Bellagio, Vdara, and the Mirage as I prefer mid strip. I will have ~8 friends joining me on the trip. I know that they will want to crash in the suite instead of reserving a different room, which is totally fine by me. We are all low maintenance guys that leave our girlfriends at home so nobody cares about sleeping on the floor or will need a room for a random hookup. My concerns are as follows:

-I know that some of these suites have dedicated floors and require a key card just to access the elevator and floor. That isn't a problem as we will be returning together at all times and have several keys. I assume that going to and from the room during the day will be no issue. But if it's 4am and we are all heading back from the casino floor to the room, will the concierge (or whoever is there on the dedicated floor) stop us or anything if we have a group of that size? The entire group is early to mid 20s if that matters at all, maybe we'd have less leeway than an older group?

-We typically spend 5 or so hours at the pool each morning and early afternoon. I know some hotels require your room key for access. If we have ~8 people walking in with 2/3/4 room keys, will this be an issue?



I know there will likely be suggestions of just having some of the group split a second room in the same hotel, but I'm not interested in that as I see no reason for them to pay a collective $500+ out of their own pockets when the suite will have two king beds, a couch, and plenty of space (I have no problem at all sleeping on the floor if it comes to that). Worst case, I guess we just stay in a standard two queen room where none of the aforementioned problems could arise.

With a 2 br suite, 8 people is no problem. You will have absolutely no issues with anyone walking in with a big group and in fact you should ask for 8 keys right at check in so everyone has his own.

 

eight people walking together and taking the same elevator, even going to the same floor, doesn't mean they are all going in the same room. i don't think you'll have any problem. sounds like a trip .

 

Take a look at the hospitality suite with an adjoining room at Mirage. You may need to call the hotel directly to try and book it, but the common area is HUGE (could go with a couple of rollaway beds in there) with a bar and a L shaped couch that could fit a couple of people itself. The suite itself has a king sized bed with a huge bathroom. The adjoining room would have 2 queen beds and another regular sized bathroom (with 8 guys, you will need more than one bathroom.) Plenty of room for everyone, IMHO.

If anyone asks, just show one key per 2 people. The only people who may check with you all would be security at the elevator or the pool attendant, and they only want to make sure you have a valid room key. Or, do as was said above, get everyone their own key.

 

its pretty optimistic to believe that all 8 guys would come and go together all day and night every day.

No way in the world that would happen with my friends.

2 king beds and a couch. thats 5 spots and thats assuming you want to spend the night spooning a drunken pal who has been sweating in 110 degree heat all day. So are the other 3 going to rack out on the floor or are you going 3 to a bed or 1 bed with 4, 1 bed with 3 and the couch?

Just think of the smells that will be wafting through the place and thats assuming no one even uses the bathroom. add that in and you should have a fine time if thats your thing.

We all lived in barracks or dorms when we were younger. we did it because we had to, not because we wanted to. just a thought.

 

dont worry it is very easy to do. people do it all the time in smaller suites then you are getting. everyone can have a key or just some people it doesnt matter. at night when you need to show your key just one person needs to show it.

there are no smells to worry about,i dont know how cousineddie and his friends smell but if you had 8 friends to your house it doesnt stink does it??. most young people are used to sleeping anywhere and having a lot of friends sharing a room,not to mention a big suite with 2 bedrooms. have fun and dont worry about the strange warnings from the old folks. just enjoy!

 

every 2 BR I've been in has the master BR with a king and the second BR with 2 queens. except for the 2BR penthouse at the B, it has kings in both BR. and they all have 3 bathrooms, so that's not an issue either way.

 

that's just funny thinking about 4 drunk guys trying to share a bed and remain "manly"!

 

You can actually get a 2br ph at bellagio with 1 king and 2 queens. I think its a 1 br ph and connector. The king room has 2 baths (his/hers), 1/2 bath in foyer and regular full bath in the 2 queen room.

 

yes, you can get a 1BR with a connector and I've had that also, but that's not a 2BR. the 2BR Pent has 2 king beds.

 

Thanks for the responses guys. Definitely eases my concerns. The ones I've looked at all have either 2 or 2.5 baths so that won't be an issue.

Cousineddie: We all enjoy the same table games and aren't into the club scene, so we tend to stick together whether we're actively trying to or not. We also won't be staying in said suite out of necessity, but I certainly don't need it to myself and if I can save my buddies a couple bucks I'm going to do what I can. By the time we head back nightly, we're typically piss-assed drunk enough to sleep on a concrete slab if need be, so I'm not worried about crashing on the floor. I'm not sure why just being in the room would cause a nasty, uncontrollable stench. Nobody is planning on puking or pissing all over the joint. While I appreciate the concerns, we've been to Vegas together a few times so I know what to expect. The only thing changing this time around is that we'll be in a suite.

 

You're really overthinking this. You never had a bunch of friends crashing in the same room at that age? This is not even stretching it. They'll have 6 spots on the bed easily. (1 king and 2 queens), then the sofa, and don't forget they can call up for cots (hotel cots can be really comfortable), or as he said the floor...cuz when you're that age and partying no one gives a shit.

And as others said, they can all get keys and if they can't for whatever reason its no big deal if some of them don't have a keys. If one of those guys wants to go up without others all he needs to do is say "hey let me get your key"...done. Its not like a big confusing problem.

Yea just do remember there won't be enough beds.. but someone can always crash on the couch or the floor. Vdara has sofa beds.

I don't imagine you will have any issues... but do remember on a weekend, these rooms can be $800+ a night... it's just not always economical to do the 2 bedrooms suites.

For example. I'm staying at Trump in December, the 1 bedroom suite, 1100sqft.. was $114 a night. The 2 bedroom? $405 a night... So we are just getting 2 rooms.

 

My buddies and I used to do this all the time when we were younger, and there was never a problem.

My only thought is that you may want to avoid asking for 8 keys right away. The capacity for those suites is probably 6 (it may be 8?). If a manager is paying attention while you are checking in he/she may try to upcharge you for the additional guests in the room or balk at the idea of having so many ppl in one suite. This is unlikely, but it's not worth the risk IMO.

When we reserved a suite like that we always reserved it for 2 people to ensure the lowest possible cost (there is typically a higher charge for more guests). I would check-in with only 1 or 2 buddies standing next to me and ask for 3 keys at check-in. Then I would go back a few hours later and ask for 2 additional keys (making up a story that I lost the keys if necessary).

If the reservation agent is pretty cool and there are no managers hawking around, this isn't as much of a concern and you can ask for more keys right away. Just my 2 cents

 

Most key card machines cap out at the amount of the guests that are "supposed" to be in that room so the likely hood of 8 keys is unlikely anyways. They just need 4, one per pair because once they cap out all the keys are cancelled.

I like the previous poster who said check prices, 1 bedroom suites might be cheaper overall.

 

The Vdara 2 BR Suite is arguably the best room I've ever stayed in. I'd take it over the 2 Story because you essentially have a panoramic view of the entire strip.

2 BR's with 2 Kings. Pull-out sofa Queen. 2 bathtubs.

You're set.

It's pricey, but if everyone is pitching in it won't cost you much of anything.

Full kitchen and a washer-dryer to clean the vomit off of those Perry Ellis button ups.

 

Are you not interested in getting connecting rooms with 2 queens each? It would ease the key card issue and possibly the bathroom/hookup issues. Maybe even at 2 different hotels (more pools!) You'd have to figure out how to get more rooms reserved if you wanted 2 sets of connecting rooms. Just my thought.

 

My only real concern is/was the keys and being stopped on the way to the room or pool if I have a group of 7 or 8 friends with me. Not really interested in getting two rooms as the suite, which is plenty of room for us, is free and asking my friends to pay for a second room or paying for one myself would defeat the purpose of having the suite in the first place. There will be no hookup issues as everyone leaves their girlfriend at home when we go to Vegas. I appreciate the response though, thank you
