In three dozen + trips, I've yet to set foot in the place. So, I certainly can't show any "hate". But the location, for me, is a deal breaker. So no love either, I suppose.

Plus, clowns kinda freak me out a little...

I can see not liking a property or preferring to stay elsewhere, but I don't understand hating the property unless staff has mistreated you. They could do some work to modern up the gaming / casino areas. They do attract families and kids, which last I checked were paying customers/human beings, but I can understand that demographic possibly putting a damper on ones Vegas experience. I do hate clowns, the circus and the insane clown posse.

CC did a great job on the room remodels and I'd rate these rooms better than standard rooms offered by several "mainstream" or sometimes praised casinos. They have a great steakhouse and you won't have to deal with ******bags.

OK, I'm running out of good things to say about the property beyond their room remodel and steakhouse. Perhaps money will shift back to the North Strip beyond Encore, which will draw much needed foot traffic to the remaining casinos which have been able to survive (CC, Riv, Strat) allowing these properties to upgrade the common areas.

One thing I like about Circus Circus is the sign out front. This is one of the more underrated spectacles in all of Las Vegas in my opinion. Just a ridiculous amount of neon in that thing. :nworthy::nworthy:

Here it is in all of its glory!

We had a family vacation back in 2005 where we booked 3 nights at Excaliber. I had my 3 grown daughters, their significant other, and 2 grandchildren, ages 8 and 5, and my lovely wife.

During those three days we utilized whatever Excaliber had for the kids including the tournament thing, visited Shark Reef and of course spent a day at Circus Circus and Adventuredome.

We had a blast, since our MINDSET was on a family vacation with kids. For sure, CC was full of families and kids and some of them were out of control, lol!

If our vacation is with only my wife and I, then of course I would find CC unappealing and most likely off our agenda. Again, it's the mindset.

But I agree that sometimes people feed off the negatives of others without really finding out for themselves. I can see disliking things but hate is a bit extreme, the only exception being clowns, which for some people is a very real and genuine issue.

CC was the first ever hotel I stayed at in Vegas, and also the first casino I played BJ at so i'll always remember it for that. The deal breaker for me is location and I have not been back since that first time.

The screaming rug rats any hour of the day.

It's old and worn out and doesn't feel clean. Doesn't mean it isn't, it is jmo.

I can lose an equal amount of money elsewhere and get offers from those other places. I don't want to stay in a worn out place with too many kids.

The rooms are quite reasonable. I'm not including the manor rooms. That's an experience from long ago that I never want to repeat.

Going to CC meant going to SOF. They took all the good things and character out of that place so that part of the appeal is lost.

    Still love the Steakhouse!

Remember when they were trying to make LV more family oriented? Why wouldn't CC put pics of ballons on the wall.......one of the early criticisms I read here. Circus Circus and balloons on the walls; who would have thought?
It was my first hotel in LV, and yes, the Manor. Actually it was clean and spacious, and the RV convenience store just steps away. I actually like the location.......downtown north, and the hotel/casinos and things to see, south. The people were always friendly to me and my room was always clean, and had a fridge.
The buffet was basic (breakfast) and met my needs. I thought the circus acts and games etc upstairs was interesting, and the adventure drome was cool.....but nothing I needed.

I never worried when people saw a couple of teens and right away new they were "gangs", or a couple of Italian guys dressed for dinner "Mafia". Crowded, yes at times. I stayed there more than once. As has been said, there are other options for the same money or a little bit more or less. However, if you choose to go elsewhere, you don't have to try to make everyone interested in CC appear to be sinful. When you throw mud, you lose ground.

It is convenient for coventioneers, good for families, or someone on a budget......just one of many choices you can make in LV. Isn't that why we all love sin city? I don't need to spend $100 to enjoy a dinner, and I don't need to spend 199/night to enjoy my room. It's just simple little me,and I have no one to impress.

My husband wanted to stop in there last week just to see what it looks like now. Last time we were there we watched a drunk grandmother get sick all over their carpet and then couldn't even tell it had happened seconds later (that is some carpet!). Why not stop, who knows what we might see this time? We didn't stop though mainly because there really wasn't much appeal due to the location. Plus we had already spent most of the week dodging tons of kids on the Strip.

What is interesting is that CC was opened as a high end casino by Jay Sarno who created Caesars Palace. The high end crowd apparently did not like the Circus theme and the result is what we are left with today.

There is a James Bond film from 1971 (Diamonds are Forever) with a scene filmed in CC LV. The people looked and acted like they were in a classy place. Things went downhill in a hurry.

I will admit I visited CC Reno multiple times back in my college days. It was a total dump with the worst buffet I have ever seen, but it met my needs back then. $2, single deck, 3:2 blackjack. Rooms to anyone off the street were something like $16/night. I'm not sure if there even were players cards back then.

    Relax people.....we're just clowning around....:Þ

I stayed at the Circus back in the late 70's, and the Circus will always be true to my heart because of "Diamonds Are Forever"........the best Bond film ever. The Circus played a big role in that movie.......especially that kid badmouthing Jill St.John for popping her balloon prematurely.......LOL.

I will always have a soft spot for Circus Circus, only because one time, while entering the place I saw these two girls waiting in line for a taxi and told the hot one " Nice legs!" because, yes she did have nice legs as well as a figure hugging dress and she said "Thanks!" and I took that as a cue to turn on the Vegas Welcome Sign(tm) and let's just say it was a friendly conversation and although I was approaching twice her age, she did show me her Midwestern hospitality and charm that night.

    No clowns involved.

My *first* jackpot was at CC. Back in 1984, I was playing $1 slots, one across from the other. Well, I thought is was a jackpot, $800. It was a lot of money for me then. I took it back to the Marina, where I was staying, and dwindled it away. I haven't been there for years.

CC was where I stayed on my first Vegas trip in the mid 90's. CC, stardust & the old Frontier were the only casinos that would allow me to drink & gamble as I was only 20 at the time of my first 2 vegas trips. CC was fine for me at the time as I was a 20 year old drunken soldier who just wanted to drink, gamble (poorly) & chase girls. LOL
We still eat at the CC steakhouse once every trip. I feel it is the best value of any prime steakhouse on the strip. If you haven't tried this restaurant, I highly recommend it. It is better than many of the more expensive steakhouses at the nicer properties. That is all we do at CC. We don't even play there anymore before or after our dinner reservation.
That being said, the casino is an absolute dump these days.

Sorry, but CC is the perfect storm of things I hate...clowns (thanks Poltergeist), and kids in Vegas. I don't even think with $10,000 in free play and two weeks free in a suite, (if they have one) they could get me to stay there. :vomit::vomit:

I am sure that it is some peoples cup of tea, but I get the shudders just thinking about it.

That's primarily it for me....I find the whole clown thing creepy. That and I only go once or twice a year and it's a vacation (versus a gambling destination) for me so I want to stay in a nice resort.

I remember going here once as a kid on a family vacation 20 years or so ago, almost like it was yesterday. This place was the mecca.

My brother and I were able to play all the boardwalk/carny games to win stuffed animals, and candy or w/e. We won 20 or 30 stuffed animals, and we didn't understand why we couldn't bring them all back (we came by bus).

I think my parents went to gamble for a bit, they probably don't allow unsupervised kids in the boardwalk games nowadays.

We gave our dad and mom a dollar to put in those giant novelty slot machines, didn't win. sad panda.

Strangely, I remember the buffet having weird looking eggs too. But the good memories outweigh the bad.

I have to say i kinda love this place. i have been there last year for my very first time. i must say it was pretty late at night so no kids around. me any my buddies actually were the only ones really sitting down there and play. i really liked it but i admit as soon as i hang out there during the day i would like it that much cause of all the kids. just annoying for someone in the mid-20's.

I'm not a clownophobe I'm a childophobe. My wife and I are childless by choice, and kids annoy the living shit out of us. I'm in the "Please Leave Your Kids At Home When You Come To Las Vegas" camp and think a somewhat child centered themed casino is just a weird, creepy and foreign idea to me. However, our July 4th trip back in 2010 we were at the MGM (after having suffered through the 2 hours of suck that is KA) we saw more kids there than I did when we ventured into Circus Circus..So there's that. On that same trip when we did venture into Circus Circus - after what we thought would be a farewell visit to the Riviera - the only thing I got out of it was sadness and depression, plus a feeling that we were going to be robbed.
