I'm sure it is because of The University of Hawaii is playing UNLV, on October 12th. All three Boyd properties are showing sold out, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Oct 11-13.

I did double book a room at Golden Gate for the 12th & 13th, so there are still rooms out there, just not with Boyd.

Just a heads up if you're planning that weekend. BOOK NOW DOWNTOWN:poke:

Boyd does hold rooms for UNLV vs Hawaii, so that's probably it.

Yep, I read that elsewhere on here and saw those dates have been booked for at least the last month. In a complete panic, I quickly booked a room @ GG, a room @ The D, and a room at 4Queens. Just to have the rooms until I found out which friends were going.

Are they truly "sold out" or just holding the rooms? Will they be released as it gets closer?

They aren't sold out because they haven't been paid for by customers. The Boyd travel agency arm, Vacations Hawaii has them all set aside for special travel packages. They have been advertising those packages in the various Vegas magazines for about a month. My smart money says that a few days before they will offload the leftovers.

I think a lot will have to do with sales of rooms leading up to the game. Like airline prices going up and down, boyd probably has someone tracking the booking of rooms, dropping prices or opening up rooms if bookings aren't going well, raising prices if more people are booking earlier.

Actually a lot of bookings aren't from vacations hawaii, vacations hawaii always has their charter arm working regularly but only have a few specials for the fb game, rather the indy agencies have vegas fb packages that also use boyd properties, these agencies block off rooms for the game and could release the rooms if sales aren't going as anticipated. I have friends that take groups up to the mainland for away games.

hate to say it but Hawaii fb will suck this year, someone said that they could even be winless by the time they get to lv with the teams they are playing early (USC, oregon state, fresno state, nevada, etc.). That may have something to do with attendance to the game but many just use the fb game as an excuse to go to vegas.

FYI, if you have a marketing offer from the Boyd casinos those dates may not be sold out. I just tried booking my October comp room offer at the Cal for that weekend, and they are showing as available to me.

That weekend is also the Canadian Thanksgiving (long weekend) which may add to the volume.
