Do you tip valet when dropping car or picking up or both?

Both could get pricey If in and out a lot

I'm a $5 in and $5 out kinda guy, but I also like the car close and back fast so I can get to meetings for business.

I usually just give them a porn slapper card sandwiched between two gospel tracts.

I don't drive, but I've seen that my friend who I often go to Vegas with will generally tip $1-2 on both dropoff and pickup. On the somewhat-analogous issue of bags, I'll usually tip the guy at the bell desk a dollar or two, and then give the guy who drops off my bags a couple dollars as well.

I rarely valet because parking is generally so easy and so many valets at the big places are slow. When I do, it all depends on level of service. A buck for each fender still intact is a good guide.

I always tip $1.00 per bag that he gets out of my trunk for me...usually $2.00 dropping off and $5.00 picking up.

Yeah had a car for the first time and valet at PH was nice because they had separate lane for Diamond/Seven Star. Really fast. MGM valet sucked hard. Massive line to get in, would have been much faster self-parking. Pretty long wait to pick car up too even with Platinum priority.

I tipped $5 on pickup. Didn't even get a thank you at MGM, but PH guys were cool. Around $2 just on pickup is probably the norm so don't feel compelled to give more if you don't feel like it.

    thanks,

I don`t mind tipping a couple bucks on pickup but was not sure if it is expected on dropoff as well.

$2-3 on both pickup and drop off. The odds of getting the same valet birth times are slim. Why should one get the tip when both did the work?

$5 on dropoff, hoping they drive my rental nicely. Most reply with thanks. Sometimes say they will keep it close. $2 on pickup.

So on drop off there are several folks hovering.

The fellow opening your door and greeting you.

The guy that will actually drive your car away.

    The Bellmen.

Then someone else seems to take your bags upstairs.

    How many are you tipping?

If we have a car (less lately), we park it ourself. We drag our own bags upstairs. The money goes into a slot machine.

The valet. We don't use bellmen or bag storage.

For the valet I usually go $2 on the drop off and $2-3 on pickup.

I don't tip the valet when dropping off the car, but I tip $3 when picking up the car.

Survivor, I have never tipped when dropping off but have been giving $3 - $5 on pickup. After reading Smartone and others I am going to try tipping both times, I do like getting the car fast when it is time to leave.

We are staying at Four Seasons and they charge $20-something for parking so I will be using Mandalay's garage but look forward to seeing how it works at the places we visit.
