We have been to Vegas many many times over the years but never on Halloween. We've heard it can be a lot of fun watching people with their costumes on but we are not sure where would be the best place to stay and play.

Downtown where casinos are close together and people are on Fremont Street? Mid Strip? A few days at each?

Appreciate any suggestions. We can get comped either place so not a money issue.

    Thanks in advance

Halloween is an absolute blast downtown! There's Halloween themed bands, a Halloween parade, lots of people in costume (not just looking for tips), there's haunted houses. And it's not just the 31st... There's plenty going on the whole week.

For costume watching, I'd recommend Palms - we bought wristbands upfront, and without much wait, we were able to hope between their venues and even got a few seconds of screen time on one of those former HDNet shows!

My vote is for Fremont Street. Much better prices and easier to walk around.

I don't recall the name of the performers, but there were Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne look-a-likes who were dead on. It was just like seeing those two greats years ago on stage.

The parade on Fremont is great...but the crowd is ridiculous...I'd say worse that NYE on the strip.

Thanks for the feedback. So it sounds like Fremont Street is quite active. We arrive late 10/29, will there be a lot of activity leading up to Halloween day?

We will be there a couple days before and after so maybe we spend some time downtown and then move.

The haunted houses do run most of the month - on weekends.

    Downtown is best!

We were there twice for Halloween and it was great! A lot if activities and a lot of fun costumed characters. If Halloween is on a weekday, the weekend prior is most fun. Seems like majority of the travelers like to visit on weekends and head home Sundays. There's still a lot of people but not like the weekenders! :wink2: My opinion anyway!

Because October 31st is a Thursday this year it depends a bit on when you are going to be there and what you want to do...

First, because its on a weekday almost everywhere on The Strip will be celebrating Halloween on the 25th and 26th of October, not the 31st... so all the big parties and such will be the weekend before.

If you are there the weekend before then all the clubs and most bars are going to have some kind of party for Halloween and you'll see plenty of people in costumes up and down The Strip and in the bars and clubs.

Thats for The Strip. Downtown will do some stuff on the 25th and 26th as well, but when it actually comes to Halloween, even though it falls on a Thursday, Downtown will be doing a lot more than The Strip will be.

As far as costumes go you'll still pretty much see people in costumes even up until 2-3 days after Halloween... some very basic, some pretty elaborate... for the women you will see lots of "sexy _______" costumes (a few bars and clubs will even be doing "sexiest costume" contests for the women so if you want to do a lot of gawking, leering and ogling those are ones to watch out for)

Now that Allegient has opened up the next six months we can book either the 2oth-24th or the 27-1st. I would love to do the later but our flight would leave at fiveish and i don't want to spend my Halloween thinking about the trip home..LOL ORRRRR we could do the eight day trip and go home the following mon. Choices, choices. unfortunately i won't have eight days of vacation from work. Guessing the 20th-24th is going to be the better deal, and i am glad i paid the 50 for unlimited changes to our itinerary.

Thanks for the input. We arrive Tuesday PM so will miss the weekend before. Probably best to be downtown until the 1st the move somewhere else. Look forward to the craziness. We were there Cinco de Mayo but really didn't think there was much going on downtown. This should be better.
