We are currently booked at MB but our friends are at THotel. I received an
email for an upgrade to The Hotel for $20 per night additional. My question is how far of a walk is TheHotel rooms to the MB casino. Is it inside the MB complex or do you need to walk outside to get into MB? Also if they are
offering upgrades one week out should we just wait at checkin to see if we
can get a free upgrade or $20 trick??
    Thanks for any insights!

Don't have to go outside to get to the casino. It's connected by a long hallway. if you're familiar with MB, the connecting hallway to The Hotel is by the sportsbook. I don't think its a long walk at all, but then again, I like to walk everywhere. Can't take more than a couple minutes to walk it

As UK said, connected by a hall. About 2 minute walk. I don't stay there anymore but I prefer TheHotel. It feels more like a private retreat. I don't believe in the "$20 trick" but I don't think it would matter in this case anyways. They are 2 different hotels with 2 different check-in desk locations. If I were you I would spend the $20 to stay with your friends rather than a hostess who has spotted another sucker.

I'd spend the $20 to stay at THEhotel over MB, simply because I like the suites (they are true suites with a door separating bedroom and living room, and a powder room in addition to full bath) at THEhotel much better than the standard rooms at MB.

    Enjoy your trip!

I liked the bathroom better in the 750 MBay suite we had, but I liked the layout overall better in TheHotel - because of the door between LR & BR and the extra toilet.....

The walk between the two is so short - and hotels in Vegas are so large that unless you and your friend have adjoining rooms, there's hardly a difference....We were attending a conference at MBay when we stayed at TheHotel and the walk wasn't really longer than from our MBay hotel room the time before. We just went outside by TH valet and across the parking area to the MBay restaurant row/walk to the convention center and Shark Reef.

Keep checking to see if you can get a great deal for TheHotel if you want, but otherwise, just keep your existing reservations....

I would definitely upgrade to THEhotel - much nicer then standard Mandalay room. Do it now - you will not regret!

    Very easy decision.

They are ALMOST the same distance to the casino. MB elevators on one side, and TheHotel on the other - with a short hallway.

    Do it. NOW!

I've stayed at both and it's a no brainer. The difference in distance is neglegible and TheHotel is much nicer. The beds at TheHotel are worth the $20 alone.

Colour me on the side of THEHotel. MB is nice, but TH is really nice! Also, that second bathroom comes in handy. Beds were heavenly as well.

Do any of the rooms in TheHotel have jacuzzi tubs? That's the only thing keeping me on the MB side right now.....

    :-(

Unfortunately, the jacuzzi tub was a MUST for me on this trip, so MB side it is.... :-(

The Hotel is by far much nicer. The thing I like the most is, there are two bathrooms in every room. But do remeber, I think there is construction currently going on.

According to my host the construction has not begun yet, at least when we booked that was the case and the schedule was for a late July start at that time. THE definitely wins hands down and it is actually closer to the MB casino, especially the table games and Poker area than the actual MB rooms are.

Is it free to visit the shark reef for guests staying the The Hotel?

If you are PLAT or NOIR, you do get free passes. Otherwise, no.

The Hotel is superior in every way to MB and would definitely advise staying there. my one and only issue with thehotel is that god awful smell they had pumping in their hall ways and lobbys during our March stay it was so strong it was overbearing and everyone with us commented on it. You could tell as soon as you hit the TH wing as you would be assaulted by this smell.

I just made the switch myself. It was a no-brainer for the $80 for a 6 days.
