Is the Gold level at Cosmo worth going for?

A little back story. I am primarily a $25-$100 hand BJ player and $100 a roll on the dice table, thats spread out over the table not just on the pass. Like $51 inside and $10 on the pass full odds. I typically play Pai Gow and VP to breakup the gambling or to slow it down the losses. This play has gotten me a total of 10 free nights at the cosmo over the last 4 or 5 stays. Typical bulk mailer, 2 free nights mid week, yada, yada, but I love the place so what can I say. Definitely has the TOOL effect going for it but I really enjoy it.

Anyway, back to the question. Is Gold status worth the effort at the cosmo to get it? When I left my last trip in January I checked my balance and saw I was 1200 points away from gold. So obviously it prob won't take much to get there, but I was planning on low rolling it this trip. I have never made Gold anywhere where Gold wasn't the starter level so I'm kind of interested in making it to the next tier level. I'm sure this has already been brought up but I would really appreciate some new feedback.

This is my first trip I will be taking with my mother since my father past away last year. She thinks we are staying at her favorite the Flamingo I think she maybe surprised.

I made Gold two weeks ago and as soon as I returned home, an offer for 3 nights, $100.00 in food and $450.00 in gaming. So........ I'm returning tomorrow and I'll let you know.

I really think the value of Gold is very limited. I don't think it will hurt to get it but I wouldn't play bigger than normal to obtain it. What do you get to choose from a free in room movie on your next stay or cut in line for the buffet? I am however guilty of the same thing trying to get a new tier status.

It was much better when they first opened but it has been diluted dramatically, and I don't feel it's worth it any longer.

We were Plat and I do not think it was worth it.

Keep in mind that offers are tied to your theo/adt. Not your level.

From your post it sounds like you might be saying you're not a high tier anywhere but given your play I may be wrong. Cosmo will match your tier from another casino. At least up until last month they were. So I was upgraded to Gold when I signed up and showed my CET Diamond. If that's an option of course you should take advantage of it and then you don't have to care about getting those additional 1200 points.

Similar experience - got an upgrade to platinum by showing mlife plat card - but upgrade is only for 1st 12 months then status is based on play during the 12 month period. Not sure what the advantages are but will find out in 3 weeks - have 4 nights comp'd.

Cosmo Identity is the worst program ever. Got upgraded to Platinum last year. Only used it to cut in line at Wicked Spoon. The program is a joke. The website has been "under maintenance" for way over a year. I've never been able to log on to my account.

the do a onetime card match there so diamond at cet gets you gold and platnium at mgm gets you platnium.

to me it doesnt matter as unless im in the high limite room ,since the have the worst bj tables even worse than cet properties,
all 8 deck or double or single pay 6/5 and hit all soft 17's for under a hundred a hand.i was just there

Anyone know how the platinum benefit of a $250 credit for your birthday works? Do you have to be there on your actual birthday or is there a window?

The platinum card is good for easy check-in inside the VIP lounge. Also there is a nice little lounge where you can relax and get some free drinks if your so inclined. Nothing fancy. The 250 reward credit is only on your bday. I convinced my host to give me half of it when I came in a month before my birthday but she said the rule was only on your birthday. I am now gold and will miss out on going to the lounge.

Ok thanks. We are usually in town for my bday so this has the potential to work out just fine

It's always said that, I don't think the system has ever worked. How cheap can they be not to fix the darn websites?

Now THAT is gross. I was Platinum and their program sucks. No limo to/from the hotel. No taxi line cut. No upgraded room. No nothing. I heard they did away with the wicked spoon line cut as well, but I guess maybe that's not true.

Besides that, they've taken house advantage to new epic levels only seen before at CET. Why people choose to gamble there is beyond me.

Actually, it hasn't always said that. About 2-2.5 years ago, the site actually worked (when they first opened). It hasn't worked since though.

Cosmo is different than other casino/hotels. They are focused on the hotel guests and not casino customers. You see this everywhere... They have great clubs, restaurants, and hotel rooms. All amenities you have to pay for. The house advantage is high, their high limit room is empty, they took the players lounge off of the main floor and stuck it in the hotel, and the website doesn't work.

Seriously, you're a sucker for gambling in their casino and they know it. That's why they don't cater to gamblers. They're making more money off of the hotel, the pool, the concerts, the restaurants, and the clubs, that when the passer-through that's come to see the art and the architecture drops a few hundred in their slots and on their tables, it's just gravy to them. They don't need gamblers.

When they get sold to the MGM properties and things come back inline with MLife, it will be worth gambling at again .

    Well said.

I did a Plat match when they opened. Plat perks dropped fast, even after some serious play. Players Club apparently is a no-go with them. Last time I stayed, they tried to charge me for the comped room. Other than walk through and MAYBE buy one drink, I am done with them. MGM and CET love my money.
