1st time staying downtown

Going to Vegas march 21-24. Been to Vegas at least 10 times in the last 5 years and its our 1st staying downtown at The D. We were comped rooms but wondering if anyone has tried to upgrade at check-in and what you did to get it? Thanks

 

When it was the Fitz, I asked for a corner room (which is a little larger than a regular room) and received it for free. It may be a little more difficult to get a free upgrade when you're going as it coincides with the first weekend of March Madness.

No problem at all with the free room. It just never hurts to ask for the nicest room possible.

 

It cant hurt to ask at all, I think it being new ownership, alot of us on here just dont know yet. Please let us know how it turns out, maybe try the $20 sandwich trick, it cant hurt!

 

We were there two weeks ago in a paid premium king corner. During the course of check-in I asked nicely if there might be some type of upgrade available and the response was snotty enough that it left me at a loss for some response or explanation.

To make things even better, the only special request I made on the reservation was for a quiet room, even paying the extra for "premium" (20th floor and above). They put me on the 21st floor directly above the bandstand. When I pointed this out and requested something quieter the same little ^%$)$# told me it was all they had and I would just have to deal with it.

Something about their theme makes me feel like they are going to try and be the snooty downtown property. It may be just me though.

 

I had the same feeling, Trooth and when I mentioned it on here, someone asked what I meant by it. I actually said the new decor looks like they are trying to make it into a strip property. Not that it doesn't look nice inside- it does, it looks great. Just doesn't look like a downtown casino anymore to me.
