Thats what I don't get about the ratings for the carnival games. Say your avg bet over the weekend playing baccarat, blackjack, roulette, or craps is $1000 a hand. You cant go over to a 3 Card Poker, Let It Ride, Mississippi Stud, Ultimate Texas Holdem, etc and play the same $1000 a hand due to table limits and somehow you're penalized for playing a lower avg despite those games having an insanely high house edge compared to baccarat or blackjack.

While I don't play anywhere near $1000 a hand I generally come in at $250 a hand for baccarat, $150 for pai gow poker, and $200 at craps. In no way would I go over and play the same $150+ on those carnival games. I really like the Ultimate Texas Holdem game and rarely play higher then $15. Ive stopped giving them my card when I play that because it dings my rating without taking into consideration what game I'm playing.

Dealers dont bust on 22 at Spanish, that rule is the same as Blackjack - 21, full rules and correct strategy here:

    http://wizardofodds.com/games/spanish-21/

Basically the major difference is you hit all your 12s and 13s in Spanish. Can be a good game if you win your doubles and splits.

why do they care what your average bet is? do you get penalized for having a smaller average bet? I would think they would be happy with any action, especially on a game like 3 card poker... now if you were playing all the spots on mississippi stud at $100 per hand I can see them being pissed because if you collude with all the hands in mississippi stud you have a 1.5% advantage over the house. (link)

    GOOD LUCK AT CRAPS

Do you get comped the same amount of points on all the games simply as a percentage of your bet? because games like blackjack have a small edge and games like baccarat have a larger edge and roulette have a huge edge, I would think that they would comp you at least twice as much for playing something like baccarat as they would for the same size bet in blackjack. I don't understand how they calculate points :(

I was more trying to clarify the dealer winning with 22. I've heard the 13 vs. 6 with less than 4 cards before, but when keeping it simple, I still tell others who ask about the game they should hit 12s and 13s.

I think at the Cosmo they changed to total theo based in stay. I always used to use cash instead of markers for small table play, but my host told me now that they dont base on daily or average bet size but total theo. trying to seduce the large hit and run type players into playing longer. This is geared toward stronger players that are already in a penthouse like nate. Now for some lower level play, average bet size can determine if your in a penthouse vs their wraparound on busy weekend or hoildays....

They don't like me playing those since max bet is only 1k or so, and no way I hit my theo target betting 1k so waste of time.

I guess your host didn't come through with the UFC tickets?

You didn't miss much. Looked like a great card, but it didn't deliver.

    Day 2/2 report

So today was a good day again, started off with a small craps win of 6.5k. Then went to Cosmo and hit the baccarat for another quick hit and run of 13k.

Played stupid Spanish 21 and Let it Ride with my godsister Lucy and lost 6.5k...how! I'm never playing Spanish 21 again.

Played regular blackjack and got 4k back...choppy.

So overall today +17k....in table games

Bet 500 bucks on Edgar for the UFC, was +145 I think. Of course Aldo was the only favorite to hold up.

Rashad Evans lost, and Overeem lost. The eye candy at the fight and at Cosmo was unbelievable though....

The terracota warrior dessert at the Chinese Mexican place at Cosmo on 2nd floor was excellent...so I included a pic.

Smiling guy with beer is my friend Joon. I take terrible pictures.

    750k? Nice going!

Are you planning to stay the next two weeks or are you thinking about cutting your trip shorter?

From another thread...was talking about my superstitions at a craps table

So true...after a while you stop being rational and just go with the superstitious flow...

    1. If a player buys in during my hot roll (I usually have my own side with my friends but on the other side), I will ask him if he wants to place any bets before rolling, because sometimes they can't make up their minds and their hands reach in while the dice is in the air and hits their hands...an inevitable 7 out.

    2. If a player comes up and leans his head over the table, or touches the table on my side during my hot roll, I have the pit boss ask him politely to step 5 feet back from the table.

    3. If the cocktail waitress comes, and I have to pay her, I usually have the stickman bring the dice back to the middle, and wait until her calls of drinks drinks fade away....

    It gets weirder...

    4. If the dice flies off the table, I don't call my bets off, but I have to place a hopping bet for the point. If I do nothing, I believe it will always 7 out.

    5. If I have one denomination of chips that add up to 7 (for instance 7 red chips, 7 green chips, 7 black chips, 7 yellow chips), I have to bet the extra 1 chip...usually for the boys if black or under.

    6. If the hardways bets add up to 7 chips, I always press one more. For example if there are 2 units on 3 hardways and 1 unit on the other, I have to add a unit somewhere. I also will do different units depending on the point, so usually when the point is 6, I have increments in 3 on all my hardways, hop bets, and horn bets.

    7. If on a hot roll, and a dealer changes, i will do a hop bet for the point or a bet for the dealers. Can't let that motion go unnoticed.

    8. If another table loudly proclaims 7 out, I will loudly shout a hopping bet for the point.

See how much crap I have to keep track of at the table? it is sick. and you think you are superstitious.

Yeah gambling is fun. But I could understand if you had enough.

Then again where would we be without this awesome trip report?

It's been said heaps of times but I'll say it again: thanks for taking the time to share your experiences and answering everyone's questions! :nworthy:

Keep up the good luck !

Ps. Your superstition post made me laugh, not because of your superstition but it's all abracadabra to me. Never played craps before ;)
