....just in case anybody has the
    "old school" Vegas Itch.
    .
I love looking in the background of The Strip
as Sammy Davis drives the garbage truck to
    each "small" casino.
Tumbleweeds/brush/desert + no overhead highway lights
    right on The Strip.
    Amazing !
    .
    And don't forget.......
Look for the mistake in the Doctor's office --
when one of the eleven finds out from the Doctor,
that he doesn't have long to live.
The backlit Chest X-Ray on the Doctor's desk........?
    It's UPSIDE DOWN !:nono: :evillaugh
    .
    ( I was an X-ray tech )

Saw it a week or so ago, it was on TCM then also. Love the movie. I have it DVR'd, so I can watch it again when I get the urge.

Thanks for the heads up. Somehow, I have never seen that. Seen every other Vegas movie. My DVR will be recording that tonight.

TCM had a bunch of gambling themed movies on last night.

Dean Martin was great also. But, the post above is right on. Sammy singing that tune on the garbage truck was awesome.

Dean gets in 2 versions of
"Ain't That A Kick In The Head".
( one version all the way thru )
Then he insults a couple of ladies
sitting at the stage.....while he jumps off.

I always enjoy watching the KLAS-TV reporter, who fails to look at the camera or use his microphone during interviews.

Or the sheriff, who repeats back everything he hears on the phone.

And who knew that every hotel on the Las Vegas strip sang Auld Lang Syne at the exact same tempo so it would be finished in one minute and thirty-eight seconds? ("We timed it.")

    Ha !
    Good ones, Andy ! :nworthy:
I'll have to watch more closely next viewing.
I remember the sheriff on the phone but
I'll have to look for the reporter.
    .
    The other scene I can't stand ---
when Sinatra speaks into the phone and
    does a voice imitation.
It is WAY TOO obvious - an "overdub" is inserted,
and it isn't Sinatra's voice at all. :rolleyes2:
    .
Hell, I read it was hard enough getting those guys on the set -
    let alone.......doing a "second take" for the director's satisfaction.:evillaugh

The best way to see "Oceans 11" is on blu ray - I bought the 50th Anniversary disc as soon as it came out and it looks incredible in a restored High Definition trasnfer. Here are some screenshots from the blu ray release:

Another great Vegas-themed movie, which is not shown very often on tv is "The Girl Rush" from 1955 starring Rosalind Russell. I have this recorded from tv on dvd, as it was never officially released to home video, but I believe TCM shows it from time to time. Rosalind Russell owns The Flamingo in the movie (which was only about 8 years old at the time) and you get to see what the original hotel looked like including the famous champagne tower, the original casino etc - it is a real time capsule of what Vegas was like in the 1950's as well as being a very entertaining film. Here is some more info:
