Expired ticket

Hi everyone

Last year, I placed a bet at Lucky's Sports Book at the Riviera.

I bet $40 on the Los Angeles Kings to win the Stanley Cup. The KIngs actually won, and the ticket pays $520!!

I am planning to go to Vegas this weekend. I was going through my stuff, and forund the ticket. Unfotunately, I never looked at the back of the ticket.
It says that the ticket epires 120 days after the event. This would mean that the ticket expired last month

Does anybody know if Luck's will actually do the right thing and honor the ticket? Does anybody have any suggestions that might help me get them to honor it?

I was plannning on using this money to gamble and maybe see a show!

Unfortunately if it expires, it expires. They make no exceptions.

I also had the Kings to win the cup.

 

LoL, Hate to say it man, but what do you mean THEY need to do the right thing?

The right thing to do was to read the ticket and pay attention.

Ever go to a pawn shop OR Sears? Or anywhere else for that matter? If you have 120 days or whatever it says on the ticket.... YOU HAVE 120 DAYS.

No one is at fault but you, so how do you think youll be able blame them for your ignorance? No Offense but they are not obligated to anything, but um, good luck with that LoL All im sayin!

 

Give the book a call. You've got nothing to lose except a few minutes of your time. You know that you can mail in winning tickets.

If you call, please report what they said.

 

I tired to call them Unfortunately, they will not take phone calls...I guess I will go this weekend, and find out....I will let you all know how it goes!

 

Just be friendly and understanding when you talk to them. You got a better chance than you would think.

 

Ok, let me explain whats going to happen so youre not wondering, as it seems all of you think theres some chance.

Youre going to bring your ticket to the window, the cashier isnt going to ask you anything, you dont need to say when the bet was placed, what sport it was on, when if, what where, none of it matters

Theyre going to run the ticket thru the machine, and the screen is going to say TICKET EXPIRED

Thats it!! End of story, i mean i hate to be the dose of reality no one seems to want to hit you with! She/Hes going to hand it back to you and say "sorry Sir, the machine wont let me payout the ticket, it seems to be expired, please enjoy your stay"

The Register isnt going to open, they will not be authorized to give you money on an expired ticket, so you can show up in a tux, with roses and chocolates and whatever you want!

So dont get mad at the people so security has to escort you out because you dont understand why they wont honour a ticket thats 5 weeks over due!

Thats it, end of story!

Theres no 'good luck', Theres no 'Maybe this' or 'hopefully that' ... I mean sorry dude, that how its going to go, you can have them call a manager over, you can call the f'ing president of the US .... ITS EXPIRED!!!

Since you seem to have quite a bit of knowledge on this subject: why are they so much stricter with sports bet tickets than they are with TITOs?

 

Its just policy when it comes to future bets, thats why the put such wording on the paperwork, its like warrantees or Exp dates on anything else in life, you dont go to bestbuy and return something 45 days after the Warrantee has expired and expect them to honour it do you?

Theyll say " Sorry sir it expired "

They dont make exceptions because they feel bad or want to make life hard, its called policy, and remember, sports books arent in business to give away anything, its like walking into the book, 20 mins after a game starts and its 14 - 0 and you say "Id like to place on bet on so and so.... SORRY SIR THE GAME IS NOT ON THE BOARD.

They dont make exceptions because someone was late!

And this is no different, dudes late, it expired and thats that

Titos get people into the Casino, they dont expire so you come back, they dont need you to come back because you made a sports bet and forgot to cash the ticket lol

 

When the ticket writer sees that his screen says expired, he will yell out, "KEY" and a supervisor will come over and make a decision. IF the supervisor wants to, he will insert his key into the machine and OK the payoff.

Like I said before, you've got nothing to lose.

Also, when you tried to call the sports book, did you ask for the supervisor? I know that they will not connect you to the book in general, but, I've called the sports book supervisor at two different properties and they put me through. Rules do vary from place to place.

If the supervisor approves an expired ticket? Thats a great way to lose his job, when someone upstairs says HE APPROVED AN EXPIRED TICKET?!?!? Get him up here!

Why put an Exp date on something if they make acceptions here and there? They dont feel bad for people... If they felt bad for everyone who lost or didnt do something on time? It aint gonna happen Donny, it aint gonna happen!

 

Just curious Rainy, are you a sports tout? I seem to remember a sports tout who called himself, The Rainmaker.

Sorry, but sometimes you can get someone to bend the rules. Years ago, I had a TV repaired after the warranty expired. I also had Nissan replace the transmission twice in my wife's Pathfinder along with several other repairs after the standard warranty was over. Last week I had a non-refundable hotel reservation refunded. Have I been succesful all of the time? NO, but as with many things in life, you get what you ask for, and if you ask nice, you might be surprised.

Maybe the OP can have the funds deposited in the cage and let the Riv get some play.

So, here's a scenario: You are at a sportsbook on Saturday night, you make a bet on a football game for Sunday. You take 4 steps away and realize you meant the other team than the ticket says. By your sharp thinking, you have a 0% chance of someone correcting the ticket for you because that is the letter of the law.

It's just not the case. Exceptions are made everywhere in the world and sportsbooks are no different.

Well, I went to Vegas a few weeks ago, and tried to cash the ticket. They weren't able to because it expired. Instead, they had me mail it to them, and said that they would honor it. Because it was expired, they needed time to confirm that the ticket had not been cashed, and that it was a valid ticket. Also, it used to be Lucky's Sports Book who was actually purchased by another sports book (William Hill)

I just spoke to them yesterday, and they are sending me my check next week!

So, the final outcome...they DO honor expired tickets!

 

That's great news, especially since the operator of the book has changed hands.
