Table Games Turning place bets on

First post here,excuse me if this has been covered.
The thread I originally found has been closed?
I imagine the casino's turn place bets off to give themselves a slight advantage.
I usually place the 6 and 8,while playing the pass line, field bets, and come bets.
After a series of wins,ties etc,I start playing the dark side.
Unless sevens are rolled back to back,most of my bets make a couple dollars.
Once playing the dark side I make bets on the place to lose.
I also place bets on the 7.
so I pretty much have 5 dollars everywhere in the middle waiting for the 7 to roll.
Leaving all bets active for the come out would net me about $150.
Can I leave all my bets on for the come out roll is really what I'm asking.

Yes. You can turn any bet on/off at any time.

 

yes, just tell the dealer you want your place bets working on the come out and make sure they place an on button on a least one of your place bets.

 

Also, if you're tipping them and being friendly, they'll likely start doing this for you on their own after a couple rolls.

 

There is no advantage to the house for having place bets or odds bets turned off, just the opposite because that is money not in play for that roll. The reason these are off by default on come-out rolls is just tradition and the superstition that the roller is more likely to hit a seven on the come-out because he is trying to. It's also a way to ensure that place bets that remained from the last hand always get carried forward to the new hand.

You can turn your place bets on and off on any roll, the same with the odds on come or pass bets. I kind of like to have my odds on all the time; it's disappointing to hit one of my numbers on the come-out and only get the flat bet paid. But of course, they scoop the whole thing when the 7 shows. You can also tell your dealer that you want your odds/place bets on all the time, and they'll usually handle that without you asking every time. They should put a little 'ON' button on top of your bets on the come-out.

Place bets are off on the come out roll as a matter of convention. Nearly every player who has a place bet from a previous decision will also have a pass line bet on the new come out roll - which would loose all of their place bets. Rather than have each player say, "My place bets are off on the next roll," the casino simply turns them off by convention and the player has to specify that they work on the come-out.

The house no more or less advantage on place bets that are off than those that work. They do it because it's simply more convenient for the players.

 

Bottom line at craps -- all bets are available all the time. If you want bets on, tell the dealers. If you want them off, tell the dealers. The only thing you can't turn on and off is the pass line after a point is established. Because that would give the player an advantage.
