    My Trip Report

Wyndham-Golden Nugget rocked at Four Queens DDB VP and my first Royal Flush at the GN

I will break it up into gambling, restaurants, shows and my general observations.

We traveled on 10/23 via a non stop American Airlines MIA-LAS and returned MIA-LAS 10/31. We usually stay 4-5 days max and stay on the strip and then head to downtown for a few days but this trip was longer. We had 3 different friends and family visiting so I figured it would keep me busy and it did.
The weather in October is awesome and it is Frank's birthday so this is our yearly ritual. This year was a little different. I won the American Airline tickets and won the Wyndham voucher for 7 nights at the Wyndham Grand Desert. We could not get a flight for the Sunday arrival for the Wyndham so spent only 5 nights at the Wyndham and then headed to the Golden Nugget for 3 nights.

We arrived LAS and I went to the rental center and arrived at Alamo with my pre-booked mid size SUV for 8 days $112 plus tax and $212 tax in. Thank you to all who posted these codes. I used the AA $35 code and Costco $22.50 discount and we were in our rental and off to the Wyndham Grand Desert. Checking in I asked the Wyndham clerk Dee Dee if a 2 bedroom was available. I mentioned my husband was having a birthday on Thursday and we had my sister joining us in a few days so she went to speak with a manager and she came back and said yes indeed we had a free upgrade in the newest tower 3 on lucky 13th floor. My husband handed her a tip. My first WIN.

We checked in and it was awesome. We had view of the South strip, a full kitchen, washer/dryer, 3 large TVs a pull out couch in the living room a King in the master and 2 doubles in the extra bedroom. My sister and brother in law were coming in for 3 nights from Toronto so now we had a extra bathroom and bedroom for them. Our daughter was coming in from LA on Sunday and I booked the Mirage for her and her boyfriend. $45 a night plus daiily $25 resort fee.

We were starved so headed in a cab to Ellis Island for a quick dinner, It was now about 2 AM Miami time and we were tired. Frank had Salmon and I had the Steak special. We were disappointed in dinner as their food was much better the last trip. We cabbed it back to the hotel.

We had planned Wednesday to meet my friend and her husband from Texas, We woke up and first headed to Von's and bought beer, wine and some snacks. Headed to Bill's and met Lori. Played a bit and headed to Planet Hollywood to the Spice Buffet. We had 2 LVA coupons for lunch $20 off per couple and the tab was $21.plus a tip per couple. The food was very good. The new cupcakes were delish!
We ended up gambling at Planet Hollywood then headed to MGM. We gambled a bit but I had no luck on VP but my husband was up playing Keno.$100
We ended up crashing early and got a great rest.

Thursday 10/25 is Frank's birthday and I booked the Flame for dinner and then off to the airport late to pick up my sister and brother in law.
Once again the Flame was wonderful. We started with the Calamari and the vest Marinara sauce which "makes it" in my opinion. Frank had Trout Almondine and I had Prime Rib queen cut and we spli creamed corn and a garbage salad. They brought a cheesecake with a Birthday candle. I used the LVA $30 coupon

I get a call from American Airline asking me if I would like a Non Stop flight home at 230PM instead of a 6AM with a Dallas stop and no extra charge. My second WIN

Friday 10/26 i took sister and brother in law and Frank to Paris for the lunch buffet. I used 2 LVA $20 off per couple and tab was $39 for four lunch buffets. We love the Paris Buffet and have always enjoyed the food and this time was no different. We hit Bellagio and Wynn and gambled a bit and lost and headed to the Wyndham.

Saturday 10/27 we took my sister (who never has been to Las Vegas) for a car ride out to the Red Rock Canyon. We stopped at the Red Rock Hotel for lunch in one of their restaurants. The food was great and service excellent. We had tickets for the Rat Pack at Rio so stopped and picked them up. Headed later to see them and really enjoyed the show.

    Sunday 10/28

I want to gamble. We check out of the Wyndham and I am so excited to be going downtown. We head down to the Golden Nugget 10AM and I get a room immediately. We didn't care about a view we wanted a room. I paid $69 a night for the Carson Room which had a south strip view on the 17th floor. We do not mind the extra walk.to the room as we need the exercise.

I decided I need time to myself and went to the Four Queens. Drink service at the 4Queens and GN were the best of all casino's we went to. I picked a VP and started to play DDB my fav. Well all I can say is this machine is a real doozy.. Thank you Four Queens! WIN
I played 5 coin quarters and hit 2 4 OAK with a 2 kicker a 4 Aces and 4 OAK with a 2 kicker when all was said and done I walked up over $800.

Tonight my sis is leaving so we are taking them and our daughter and bf to the Flame. The meal was outstanding again. We started with the Calamari with that sauce and everyone ordered salads, sides and entrees. I tried the Walleye Pike for the first time at the Flame and it was delicious. We tried each others Salmon, Trout Almondine, Steak Diane, and the Filet Mignon and all agreed of the fish the Walleye was the favorite. We ordered drinks and 2 bottles of wine and the tab was $280 plus a tip. :) Frank headed over 2nd time this week to tip the piano player. The Flame's food and old Vegas feel is why we come back and what we love about it.

I am getting a shuttle for my sister to head to the airport, We head off to bed we are whipped. Monday and Tuesday will be Frank and my days to do what we want and relax a little. I booked tickets for Tuesday night to see Gordie Brown and that is the only plans we have. I would like to hit Triple George Grill for lunch and gamble at Four Queens.

We have Monday's Heat and Celtic game and want to watch Ray Allen play his first game as a Heat. Carrie and bf are here for another night so we take them to Magnolia's for dinner. Magnolia's is not fancy but consistent food and reasonable. I used 2 coupons. We ate all 3 breakfasts here this trip and no line and great prices. We are at the Golden Nugget sports book and decide to hit the bar with VP and the bartender changes the TV so we can see the game. I position myself in the Lucky #4 spot "my numerology lucky number" and decide to play DDB for a quarter and see how it goes. I rarely gamble at the GN just head over to Four Queens when we stay there. Well I hit Queen Jack and Ace of Clubs and held them and low and behold I had my first Royal Flush ever with 1 coin in at the Golden Nugget. I was mad at myself but all in all I came home with $ and had a absolute blast! :drunk:

    Thanks for reading!

    Well, I wouldn't. A win is a win!!
Mathematically, it is true that playing full coin adds advantage, but bankroll is a consideration as well. And if you hit the royal, well you overcame the mathematical disadvantage that day by getting lucky.
I remember the times when I used to "wong" the Piggy Banking slots( which adds mathematical advantage to playing just one coin when collected bonus pots have risen on those old fashioned machines), and in Atlantic City I hit a huge jackpot. The guy next to me was excited until he saw that I had not played full coin and then he looked at me in disgust.
Not me. That was a $200 plus win on a quarter put at risk. And winning it was fun. And that is what this is about, right? Fun!
I also had a fine time winning $6 over two hours, playing one line on a penny Texas Tea with freeplay at the El Cortez last trip. I cheered for the 15cent wins there and got drunk on four Myers Rum so that every time that armadillo shook himself, the rum made it all the better. As it turned out that was perhaps my last real drunken indulgence in alcohol, so the memory is as rich and wonderful as the royals I have hit.

I had a dealt royal at the Four Queens last trip, playing full pay 5 quarters, I'm not going to grieve that I was not on a ten line machine so the royals would all count or whine that I was not playing full pay dollars or that the progressive had not risen as far as it might have risen. I'm going to savor the victory. Enjoy the winnning.

I wouldn't worry about it. Hell, if you were paying max coins you might not have gotten it at all. Who's to say you wouldn't have run out of money first or if they work like slot machines then the exact monent of when you hit the button determines what cards you will get and with max coins you the time it took you to hit the max coin button would have changed your timing a little...
