as he does almost every afternoon, Gaughan sat down to a game of low-limit Texas Hold'em. Epstein placed a slice of Gaughan's chocolate birthday cake next to his chips. http://www.lvrj.com/business/gaughan-offers-link-to-days-of-old-vegas-176155071.html
Re: Read that article and it was very interesting. I'm thinking about staying there on a upcoming trip because of it.
Happy Birthday, Jackie. And on a side note- Alexandra Epstein is drop dead gorgeous, has great taste (look at renovations she has done) and has to be one of the most sought after single ladies in Vegas. She really has her head screwed on straight.
"Gaughan enjoyed the personal attention from Epstein, 27, the executive vice president of the El Cortez." Yeah, I'd enjoy some personal attention from Alex Epstein too. *ahem*
Brains AND Beauty... check out this interview a few months back... sorry, didn't know we couldn't paste a URL in a message... it's a 27 minute YouTube video of her and Ed Bernstein... all about the new things at the El Cortez.
Nice Good to see one of the legends, still around & kicking. The storys he could tell, about the old days, if he wanted to. Oh my! Happy Birthday Mr. G.
There's another Epstein daughter on the El Cortez management team. So now you can choose blonde or brunette. http://www.lvbusinesspress.com/articles/2012/10/29/news/iq_57540696.txt
Thanks for posting. So glad to see one of the greats hanging around like that. I've never run into him there but like many, I hope to one day soon.
Met jackie in September when I won £200 on the Saturday noon draw. Lovely man who reminded me a lot of my grandpa. He was escorted by another guy who carried a small cooler with him all of the time. It seemed quite unusual that I as a young ish, uk female tourist won something rather one of the local old boys :evillaugh. I definitely felt some daggers in my back as I collected the promo chips.
Saw Jackie playing poker Wednesday. He didn't see me (behind him) but I did do the 'ear flick' thing a couple of times until he turned around. We had a good laugh and I went on my way. Ok, not really. But I did see him. Always makes me smile. Maybe the last Vegas legend still around.
Playing poker with Jackie has been on my bucket list for many years, this next trip I gotta make it happen. I don't want to bother him, just sit at the same poker table and play a few hands with him, maybe he can river me.
I saw Jackie playing cards during my visit to the El Cortez last week. I'm always pleased to see him, he is a true LV legend. Nice to know he is being well looked after.
Thanks for the article, great read. We just started visiting the El Cortez in the last few years and although neither SO or I can win a thing there, really enjoy the ambience, particularly in the Parlour. Not to mention we love, love, love the Flame which we will be visiting again this year. It's becoming a Must Do when we are there. The old school feel of it just makes it all the more special.
Jackie is a true legend. I always used to see him playing at the poker table-ElCo only has 2 tables, and I have very seldom seen both of them open. Having said that, when I saw him 2 weeks ago it was the first time I ever saw him with out his suit. He always wore a suit and cuff links so you would know it was him. He was wearing a shirt-first time in 20 years that I have seen that. Just walk past the table and if you see an elderly man it might be Jackie.Long Live The Legend
