Las Vegas New Years Eve

Never been there before for the holiday. I heard it's awesome with all the fireworks and have always wanted to go. Is it true they close the strip NYE and everyone roams into the streets? Do the casinos still shoot off fireworks from the rooftops? My dad's cousins (who are high rollers) stay at the Wynn every NYE and watch everything from thier room on the top floor. They tell me it's a zoo down on the strip.

 

Yep, everything you heard sounds just about right. If you go into the crowd put yer wallet in your front pocket. Just after midnight you may have to show a room key to enter a casino on the strip. One year the girls were getting naked and jumping into the various fountians.(Burr) The police clear the street and the street sweeper comes thru then back to normal. You need to do it at least once.

Yes is awesome everything, fireworks, people, the ambience is happiness,
i've been the last NYE and i hope comeback once again, my advice IMO, if you like drink grab some budligth o some alcohol, because is difficult go to the casino por each beer, well depends of you.

NYE in Vegas is really different. My wife HATES crowds, but felt it was worth it, one time.

We did a hosted party at Paris, then headed out to street at 11:30. Totally insane. Drunk, $hit faced people all over. But in a friendly way. We took drinks with us, and once they are gone, they are gone. It is difficult to get back into even your own hotel for a few hours.

Yes, the street is totally shut down early evening.

 

I am honma be there December 21st-january 3. Yes it is amazing!!! This will be my 4th straight vegas new years. A lot of casinoslaunching fireworks. Everybody drunk as hell. Streets crowded. The one problem with NYE in vegas is that you have to pick what you wanna do and stick with it! You wanna gamble? Well pick one casino to play in the rest of the night. Wanna club? Gotta choose one club. Wanna be out on the strip? You gotta chosse which part of the strip you wanna be at.(To be fair you can see all fireworks from any part of strip). New years in vegas is about making one decision and sticking with it. If you bate the club you are at then you are out of luck.

For your first time I suggest just being on the strip. It is so fun. Crowded as heck though. It is funny when it ends though. Everyone connected body to body inching back to hotel lol. You are gonna love. I did NYE 2010 on the strip. NYE 2011 on the strip. NYE 2012 on the strip. I might just do NYE 2013 in a club this time though i will be tempted to do strip again. If you decide to gamble there will be DJs in just about all the hotels so that is fun 2. PLEASE GO 2 NYE! Everyone must do it once. Keep in mind that NYE2012 vegas was actually colder than New York believe it or not. I was so drunk I did not feel a thing lol

 

Thanks for the detailed info for NYE in Vegas. I think we will do it this year. I have always wanted to do this for a long time. I'm going to be in Vegas on October 18th-21st, I think I will check the rates while I'm there. I have a feeling it won't be cheap.

 

I wouldn't wait too long to book a room and/or flight! I booked several months ago.
I'll be there this NYE! I'm looking forward to seeing the fireworks again.

 

+1 - We booked our hotel and flight in early July. This will be our first time celebrating NYE in Las Vegas. Can't wait!

 

I would check today. After all, assume you are going to do it via the computer anyways. You surely do not want to go stand in line to deal with desk clerks, right? Book now - you can always cancel.

I'm 24 and have been for NYE the last 2 years now and to Vegas 7 times or so the last few years during the summer/fall, and there's not another place to be that could possibly match the electricity and excitement that is in the air. The casinos are crowded but not to the point of being uncomfortable, and buffet lines are just a tad longer than normal. I spent last years with the Fiance at Cosmopolitan for the Stevie Wonder concert and had the time of my life (stayed at the HGVC at Flamingo), and the year before spent it trying to make my way from the HGVC by Circus Circus to Mandalay Bay, but unfortunately got too drunk and had to stop by the time we hit NYNY. Saw 0 fights, 0 arrests, and a lot of happy people. You wont regret a NYE on the Strip anywhere you stay.

Need to know tips:
- Restaurants DO NOT do reservations on NYE or NYD

- The Strip shuts down to traffic at 4 pm NYE, so be back to your hotel if you leave in your car much sooner

- You will be hard pressed to find parking at any hotel you're not a guest at as most places are sold out and lots are at capacity

- DO NOT buy tickets to ANY show or concert for the night of in advance, peoples plans change and come the 31st you will score 1/2 price tickets or more to every show on Craigslist/eBay. Stevie Wonder tickets last year were $300 each after tax/fees, I managed to get 2 tickets for $260 total on NYE.
Same story the year before for every big show and club.

- The strip is a blast to be on all night if you decide not to go anywhere, you'll run into tons of happy drunks and people there to enjoy the night the same way as you.

- Every hotel says Check-In is at 3-4pm, but the people working the desks don't want the huge lines either so you should be good to check in around NOON each day at the earliest and 1:30-2 at the latest.

Both of our trips for NYE were on weekends, so I'm sure the crowd will be down from the 360k people there last year but who knows, you'll have the time of your life no matter what.

 

I've done Vegas for NYE the last 6 years...it is fun...I've done the strip once and all the other times I've been at a hosted party. The atmosphere in Vegas on NYE is GREAT not matter where you choose to party.

 

No prob at all. The earlier you pay for everything the better. My friend booked his plane ticket very late and got screwed on the plane ticket price. All the strip hotels seem to all be booked up by mid dcember
