Why haven't they already done that? That should have happened long before announcing that the property is going to become the Fraud. I mean, the Quad.

Maybe we should take bets on what they will name it?

"The Cafeteria" fits the college vibe I get from the name "The Quad" :rolleyes2:

The Linq project is aimed at the Generation X and Y crowd. So, the name "the Quad" ties in with the attempt to attract the younger crowd. I believe O'Sheas is supposed to be relocated somewhere within the Linq, so it fits in also . The Linq is just an expanded Carnival Court. So you know the type of people they are looking for.

I don't know why the name "Quad" implies young, now, hip and wow. Shouldn't they call it Pong's Palace? LOL!!!!!!!!

I saw a different view of the Quad. O'sheas appears to be a big part of it, it kinda flows from where IP is now and expands into O'sheas.
If you zoom in on the Linq construction cam, look where O'sheas used to be, on the ground floor is what appears to be strips with connections for rows and rows of slot machines.

The more I'm thinking about it the more I'm not really understanding the name. It just seems off to me and does not imply a meeting or gathering place. I wonder why they just didn't go with The Q.

I find it interesting the chosey "quad" - considering the english word "four" sounds so much like the chinese word for death that places like Wynn don't even have floors 40-49 so as not to offend the superstitious sensibilities of their Asian players.

True, Asian high rollers likely won't be playing at the quad, but Asians like to gamble at all price points - and while quad isn't exactly four, the connection to four might be close enough that many Asian gamblers would want to avoid it anyway - the same way MGM had to get rid of the big lion entrance because Asians considered it bad luck.

From the common nickname for the Quadrangle, a part of several college campuses.

Once a dump, always a dump.

Don't get me wrong - for many years that place was where I stayed when I headed for Vegas. But a slow renovation that doesn't start with all the rooms and those elevators isn't going to change anything. And the name is stupid.

I know superstition isn't always logical, but that seems like a pretty faint connection to cause issues.

If the problem is what it sounds like, then this name doesn't sound like that. You basically have to take the meaning of the name (which is slang for quadrangle), and break it to its root language to get the association with the number 4.

I mean, are all 4 sided shapes considered unlucky?

Lots of hate for a casino that most of you would never consider staying at even if they pumped millions into a renovation. :)

I don't hate the name, but I don't love it either. It's just meh... They needed a new name because the IP name was going away. All plans indicated they weren't doing a remodel of the rooms in this first go round, it was all just going to be on the ground floor.

I still think they seem to be doing as much with this place as you can. It is the perfect location for walkthrough traffic, so they are sprucing it up for that.

God them elevators are the worst. Slowest elevators on the planet, and when it finally comes, the doors open and the carpets half gone exposing the elevators floor. Seriously, a 6 foot square of carpet??? Come on, splurge!! Most carpet places give that size away as remnant samples.

They MUST know about the elevator hassles! I'm sure they receive regular complaints about them.

Still, it's a fun lower-end casino and a decent hotel if you don't need the mint on the pillow.
