Cosmo questions

I've booked a trip for my wife and I at Cosmo in November (after Thanksgiving)...I've never been there before, and I had a couple questions. The rooms look fantastic...but how is the casino itself? We're mostly $.01 slot players, and not real fancy eaters...are the properties nearby easy to walk to?

, Paris , ballys, bills, flamingo, and ceasars all walking distance from cosmo , plus
places to shop like city center right next to the cosmo and the planet hollywwod
mall across the street, get a room with a terrace and a view you will love it., good luck , the casino is o.k.

You will enjoy the room but you may feel a little out of sink with the marketing effort of the property. However, it seems everyone has penny slots now a days. It just takes more than a penny, for the most part, to play them. You probably will want to consider going to other properties regardless. Your in an active part of the strip and you can walk to many of them. You can also find some moderately priced restaurants at the Cosmo but truely inexpensive ones, will again, be found off property. Over all, you will like the ambience of the common areas and casino. Plus a nice room to relax and spend your personal time in, makes the stay more enjoyable. I think you will be pleased.

 

You'll enjoy the penny machines at Cosmo, for they are always empty!
Most of the people in there are playing table games or having fancy drinks at the bar.

As mentioned, across the street is Planet Hollywood with the miracle mile shops. Inside there are like 15 or so places to eat, including my favorite: the Earl of Sandwich.
During the holidays, they make an awesome culinary treat titled 'The Holiday Turkey Sandwich" (or something along those lines). It's turkey sandwich with stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. The flavor is incredible! Had one for dinner one evening, then went back the very next morning and had another for breakfast!

 

Since you have been there 7 times, let me help with other properties. The escalators going into Planet Ho are almost directly across the street. So, within about 100 ft of the door of Cosmo, you can be walking into PH, or taking the walkway to Bellagio.

 

Eating at the Cosmo

There's a place called the 'Hidden Pizza Place' and it's not on the map of the property, nor are there signs. You can get real NY style pizza (big, floppy thin crust - foldable) with a red Solo cup of PBR for pretty cheap. Hubby went, so I can't even give you directions, but I'm sure someone can. We got a large pizza with 2 beers for $20. Good eats!

The buffet, the Wicked Spoon, is about on par price-wise with other strip buffets; however, many of their items are already plated - meaning you're not going to dig through the same chicken wings 2000 other people did! Very nice change from the other buffets!

The "Hidden Pizza Place" is on the third floor of Cosmo, there is no sign at the entrance but it is down a long hallway lined with old music and movie memorabilia. Last I heard (and last time I was there), they are only open from midnight to 6am. We went at 4am and waited over an hour...but it was totally worth it!! The pizza is fantastic! There is no menu...the pizza is laid out on the counter and when you choose the type you want they toss a slice in the oven to finish cooking/heat up.

It use to be referred to as the "Secret Pizza Place" but since it’s not so much a secret anymore it’s, just hard to find, it’s not the “Hidden Pizza Place”

You will enjoy the room. We had a terrace suite?? over looking the Bellagio. The balcony is cool, simply for the fact they are rare in Vegas. The room had a large shower/soaking tub etc... and plenty of room.

The hotel is more of a boutique hotel vs. the "typical" Vegas hotel. It is visually very nice, there is alot of hidden details related to art deco etc... and the place is caters to the unique drinks/bars more so then the PBR crowd.

I enjoyed the casino. I am mostly a table player with VP thrown in. I have no idea about penny slots, but I can't imagine a casino not having them, they are money makers. Dealers/staff were very friendly and helpful.

The location is excellent, close to a lot of other hotels, if the Cosmo is not doing it for you.

The pizza place is very good and is easy to find once you ask someone where to find it.

 

Was at Cosmo at end of August. Wife is penny slot player and there were a number of penny slots available, however, she seemed to do better at Planet Hollywood across the street. They also have a large number of penny slots.

 

I just looked at the Cosmo (because I have always thought a balcony in Vegas would be cool).

The rooms are more than I would want to spend...can you ever get the balcony room for $150/night? (I am only a CET member)

Kind of funny, I came across the place just looking around the 3rd floor at cosmo, since I had never been up there. Me and a buddy said "wtf this hallway takes us to a pizza kitchen lol"

 

I'm kind of waffling, because I do that all the time.

We have usually stayed at the Mirage, they had a couple of machines we really liked, and it was an easy walk to Casino Royale (we're cheapskates, so cheap craps is a blast and other cheap machines), as well as Venetian (have stayed there before and really liked it). Mirage took out the machines we liked cry, so I'm debating on what I want to do. How walkable is Caesar's from other parts of the strip?

 

At least do one night in a room with a terrace and a fountain view... It's worth every penny and you may not want to leave the room. Here's a panorama (very zoomable) that I took from the 37th floor.

So my indecisiveness played with me. I actually booked the Terrace 1-bedroom suite (will cancel my Terrace studio reservation on Monday). What are the odds of the $20 trick working to get me the fountain view suite?

 

I didn't do the $20 trick, but they did offer an upgrade to fountain view on my wraparound terrace... I think it was $30 (one night).

 

Yea, I could've just booked a fountain view, but am hoping the sandwich trick will be my friend. 11/24 needs to get here faster!

 

I think if they have a room available, you will get it. The twenty dollars makes them look rather than give you a quick anwer.
