Just looking at the MGM Grand offer that arrived in my email. At the bottom, in small print it says that a resort fee 'may' be charged. ???

If you have recently accepted an 'invite' from the Marketing Dept., (and have no host to intercede on your behalf) did you escape paying the $25 + fee?

It seems that these offers come as enticements because you have played at MLife properties in the past, so I assume that your play while there should not be the determination of whether you 'MAY' pay the extra fee...so what's up with that, hmmm?

We received a 3 day comped room, $50 in play and 2 for 1 Brad Garrett tickets via email offer from MGM back in June.......but we couldn't get the link to work......so we called MGM Grand and they confirmed the offer......then I asked if we had to pay the $25 per day resort fee and was told NO RESORT FEE on comp rooms.....we are leaving Mon for 3 days at our favorite Vegas casino....and the best part....it FREE...my favorite 4 letter word...LOL

We also scored on cheap SW airfare (NON STOP) for $575 for both of us from the east coast..

FIVE more DAYS and we will be in VEGAS again... :)

Have stayed at MGM comped 3 times this year, I have never had to pay the resort fee. I had booked thru casino marketing.

Thanks for the replies everyone. This is just what I wanted to hear. The worst I would be is nearly even (since there is tax on the resort fee) as I get the $50 freeplay. I have comped rooms at Flamingo for those nights, but would like to spend time down at the other 'corner' before I leave for home. :)

Based on a few hundred responses to this question over the past year, I would say about 95% of more never pay the resort fee. NYNY has been known to play that game though.

NYNY is the worst about this. They did the same to me -- although I had a host remove it after my stay, which they will do if you outplay your offer.

I was told the resort fee was charged on comped rooms as well and didn't even bother asking why, I just hung up. Called MGM and tried to book but they were sold out on one night but no resort fee. Called MB and booked my nights and again no resort fee. not sure wtf is up with nyny.

I have stayed at Bellagio and ARIA several times with casino marketing offers. There are no resort fees on the comped room at these two resorts.

However, I read from different message boards that Monte Carlo and NYNY are charging resort fees on the comped rooms. That sounds awful.

MGM never, Mirage only stayed their once, never charged. NYNY, 2 nights comped-stayed 3 nights-they waived the resort fee the comped 2 days, but I had to pay it on the non-comped day.

I can confirm when I called for my offer (2 free nights at either NYNY or MGM) I was told @ MGM the resort fee is comped as well but at NYNY they told me the fee would be charged. I went with MGM.

Thanks everyone. I have been getting lots of mixed replies about this, but am crossing my fingers that like the last few posters, I will not be charged the resort fee by MGM in November. :)

Funny story - got an email offer from Monte Carlo a couple of days ago, booked it yesterday through VIP Services and they specifically said at the end of the confirmation process that I would be responsible for the resort fee even though the suite was comped.

This morning I got a better offer from the MGM Grand for the same period, so I cancelled the MC stay and booked for the Grand - at the end of the call, they didn't mention a resort fee, so I asked and the rep said that it's included in the comp.

I assume these are standard hotel policies.

Just reporting what they told me at VIP Services - could be that you played enough to have it taken off or something. That's the first thing that was taken off the bill when I stayed there in July.

I've stayed 3 times on a comp, and never had to have the charges taken off...they were never there. Because I've had other things taken off after the fact. Maybe my host just takes them off before I get there.
