    Hi everyone:

Bit of a stupid question here...as I am not comfy with traveling with cash to Vegas, does anyone know if the hotels/casinos will cash travelers cheques without a fee?

I use a local credit union at home, and do not wanna pay the big fees on the hotel ATMs to wd my cash.

    thanks

    DH

I take traveller's cheques when travelling to Vegas and through Excalibur/Luxor/Mandalay have not yet been charged to cash them. I'm sure most wouldn't charge as it's money being spent in their casino :) But then again I have only had experience with those three.

Prior to switching to a credit line, I used travelers cheques at the downtown Boyd casinos. It used to be time consuming, but later, it became a very simple process. There were no fees. I used to get my free checks at our local credit union.

My credit union will give me fee free travelers checks, but want to find a place to cash em for free somewhere on the strip. If i could do my poker buys in with my card, id that in a heart beat!

    thanks

I also get free TC's from my credit union to travel with.

Not sure but I haven't found a cashier cage at any of the major casinos which didn't accept TC's. You just need to show them your ID to cash em.

Cashing TC's should be a problem for you.

I also do not want to carry a lot of cash so I use TC's and set up markers so I don't have to carry a lot with me.

No problems at CET casinos - now NO ONE in town carries them anymore, so I opened a credit line and also set up check cashing line.

how much cash are we talking about? there's lots of threads about how to get your bankroll to Vegas and TCs is not usually top on the list.

I don't see banks advertising TCs anymore and they used to charge 1% but I believe that AAA members can get them free if you are not a member of a credit union. I haven't carried them to LV in a long time but never had a problem cashing them anywhere that I went, hotels or restaurants etc.

Not sure what you mean by NO ONE. Is this for ATM's? Cashing TC's? Providing TC's?

I always take along some TC's and have no problem cashing them at the boyd properties so not sure what you are implying.
