    My Trip Report

We arrived in LV from Washington DC on 5 Jul at 3:30 in the PM. Decided to take the WAX downtown to the Plaza. I had to ask directions to the bus stop but the guy I asked didn't know what the WAX was but told me where all the buses stopped. Had to wait a while for the bus as we just missed one. There was a woman rummaging through her purse over and over. She had a young girl with her sleeping on the bench. This woman kept going on the different buses, 108, 109, etc. asking something. I asked her if she was waiting for the WAX and she told me she was waiting for any bus going to Walmart on Tropicna. She had no money and the buses don't take credit cards but the pass machine would take a credit card. She said she didn't have enough money on her credit card to buy a pass. She and the girl had been there since 4AM. Felt like I should do something but the wife nixed any action. What a way to start a vacation in LV. Bus came, we showed our Medicare card and put a dollar into the machine. 25 Minutes or less we were at the Walgreens downtown, Hot, Hot, Hot. Drug two bags 4 blocks+ to the Paza, ahh air conditioning. Easy checkin, no line, all our relatives had already checked in so we were off to our room.
Great room, we had asked for a room near relatives and everyone was happy, unbelievable. 8 of us scheduled to play in the bingo tournament, great deal on the bingo packeage, second time this year we have done this deal and we were well satisified both times.
Plaza casino quiet but some action. Some of us played 3 Card poker, BJ and craps. Nothing exciting to report, one BIL did fairly well on 3 Card poker. No one was playing at the "Tramp Stamp Dancers BJ tables. As a fact most of the time we were there there was never more than two and usually one playing at the dancer BJ tables. They are all over the place now, bad rules.
The Plaza pool was going strong and even had a cocktail waitress on Saturday.
Elevators were frequent and fast. Cocktail waitresses were always there when we wanted them, but we also tip good, that helps. Maid service was excellent, every thing we asked for was provided promptly.
There is a good variety of slots and wife and SILs had a lot of fun playing, winning and losing on them.
Saturday night the place was packed, but we still managed to get in to a few games. I never tell how I do as most of it is BS.. We played and ate in a lot of the downtown casinos. Ate in the Rosewood restaurant in the Cal for an 80th Bday party, great food, good drinks and a lot of fun. Best craps game at the MSS, best 3 Card Poker at the Cal, Best BJ at the Plaza. Luck is where you find it. For all the Plaza naysayers, stay away. For the price, even with a resort fee this is the best place downtown to stay. If you can beat it stay there.
We used McDonalds, for coffee and breakfast, Hash House A Go Go for dinner an d the new Mexican carry out for a quick snack. All of them are reasonably priced, good food, and we had GREAT service. Can't find that in the Nugget.
Ate the MSS buffet once or twice, good as usual. Wish the Plaza had a decent buffet and not some chinese/Hawaiian food thing. Over all we love the Plaza, had great service, and had a wonderful time.
Took the WAX back to the airport after 6 great days in downtown LV. Easy trip, love buses now. WE have a senior ID Card that will allow us to buy reduced passes. I know we will be using the bus often in the future. The lady who waited on us at the Bonneville service center gets a Royal ATTA Girl for the great help and assistance she provided us in the 117 degree heat
We had agood time and some of the relatives won a good sum of money, as for my self I had great time on the craps table and hope to return soon.

Sounds like everybody had a great time! I love going all over Las Vegas, including downtown. Will have to try Hash House at the Plaza next month. Thanks for posting.

You can afford to go to vegas but couldnt give someone a couple bucks to ride the bus with a child in tow?

Sometimes in life people or situations are put before us as a test. you pass some, you fail some. For some reason i feel that in vegas that the good deeds you do for someone else will turn right around in your favor right away, at least thats seems to be the way it works for me.

Anyway, glad you had fun . i just got back from the plaza and enjoyed it too.

She did the lady a favor, if she didn't have enough money to get there, she didn't have enough to get back, likely she saved her from being stranded.

Seriously though, if this woman with kids was going to walmart, she had money, she was going to buy something. To criticize the poster for not giving away her money is just ridiculous, since you're so generous I'll tell you what, I'm going to vegas again next month, PM me, I'll give you my address, you can send me money and I promise to hand it out to the first bum I see in vegas.

I probably should have called 911 so they could get Family and Childrens services involved to help them out.
I could have given them some $$$ but was nixed by the better half. Our good dead for the trip was giving our restaurant to go boxes to the homeless. So we did some good while we were in LV.
