Deal on Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

Ok so pretty sure I'm going to get screwed on this "if it seems too good to be true it probably is" deal, but I guess we are all gamblers here so why not?

There is a deal on the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas website, you can also google the code, basically its a package requiring FULL PAYMENT at time of booking, rather than just the first nights price as a deposit. But the trade off is about a 1/3 lower price on their best publicly available room.

I reserved the opening 3 nights (Dec 15, 16, 17) in the wrap-around terrace suite for $1,041.60 using the offer, which comes with a $100 food and beverage credit saving $493.40 (plus the $100 credit) vs the $1,535 price of a normal reservation. Not bad for what is allegedly a pretty nice room in a hotel that will allegedly open this December.

    A gamble I admit.

Here is the link to the room type:

    http://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/stay/rooms-and-suites/wraparound-terrace-suite.aspx

and that discounted offer (although remember the pre-payment and inherent RISK is a big downer for some):

Of those 3 epics, the only one I wish to read, or participate in is the latter.

I might be in town that week - it's the week I usually go each December (week before Christmas; 12-17). I'll probably be at Orleans though but hope to meet up with you fine folks!

Robin Leach is reporting that an injunction against Cosmo is pending tomorrow. Of course take that with a grain of salt as he is one of the likely plaintiffs in the suit.

They're trying to prevent the hotel from renting out suites they theoretically bought or something.

Well hopefully Negranaeu and Leech aren't sleeping in my room when I get there. that is a quite awful visual, yet alarmingly possible.

I was looking over the Cosmo site yesterday and while a did see a bunch of offers/packages that did require full payment rather than one night deposit, if I remember correctly, at least the ones I looked at also said they were refundable - you might want to check on that.

It is refundable per the website, I was thinking more along the lines of bankruptcy.

I'm not worried about it after reading the articles saying Deutsche Bank owns it and its managed by some hotel company. They aren't going bankrupt. I was more worried about a Fontainebleau-type situation where they actually go bankrupt and I'm screwed regardless of the cancellation policy.

It is actually nice you can bring up your reservation on their website and cancel without being forced to call like you are with every other operator in vegas.

Most MGM properties you can cancel online (if you have a vanilla reservation). When you're on the first page of the booking engine, scroll down and find the line that says

Guest Services / Privacy Policy / Become an Affiliate

Click on Guest Services. It'll bring to you a page where you put in your confirmation info. If you have a vanilla reservation, you can usually cancel it there.

One thing I noticed about the Cosmo reservation system was it looked a lot like TI's, so I wondered if TI was connected somehow, but it doesn't appear to be. Looks like Deutsche has their own one-off group operating Cosmo.

That's one of the things I liked right away when they were building the Cosmo was the balconies! It's also looking like August is a go for me, I guess I'll have to see if the stories Gaggles has told are true
