"It seems clear to all that Calipari -- who would have been owed a $33 million buyout if the school elected to fire him now -- will face intense pressure to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament next season."

That's my main take from that article.

Per OptaStats: Arizona has now lost to a team seeded at least 4 spots below them in each of their last 6 NCAA Tournament appearances.

That's the longest streak by any team since seeding began in 1979.

Purdue not having much trouble tonight and NC State handled Marquette fairly easily.

Been listening to the talking heads on local radio today and they believe Tennessee will easily cover the 3 points they are favored by. Personally, I'm a bit worried about Creighton.

Looking at Duke to hold their own against Houston and possibly pull it out tonight... I just wouldn't go putting money on that though.

I'm watching Friday Night Baseball on Apple TV+ and I believe they are going for some kind of world record with that "Don't Let Me Go" Apple commercial.

What might have been for Houston.

Have two starters go down with season ending injuries during the regular season and another in the tournament.

If it ends up UConn/NC State, I'd shovel some money on the NC State spread.

I'd be OK if NC State won outright. But rather have 'Bama for my pocketbook. Lol

I brought this up when Kentucky lost in the first round and it doesn't surprise me in the least.

He’s leaving because the fans want his head on a platter after faceplanting his last three years. So he’s moving on to a job with less pressure, more NIL and the chance at championship #2 before he retires.

If you’re winning at Kentucky the fans let you carry on, but when you have a few early tournament exits in a row, they suck the life out of you. He doesn't feel appreciated or wanted there so why stay? My guess is the fans will help him pack his bags and see him off to the airport, then drink champagne and celebrate until the next savior of the program is hired.

The problem is that there is nobody immediately in line to take over. Wright would be ideal, IMO, but I haven't read anything that says he wants to come back to coaching. A lot of fans want UK to make a run at Hurley. But I have trouble seeing him leaving UCONN if they win tonight. Oats is the other name being tossed about. meh. Doesn't move the needle for me, but might be the best option. Whatever they do, they need to move quickly to get a coach that can either keep players non the existing roster or maintain the incoming recruits. A lot of these guys are loyal to Cal and his staff. Which means UK might lose its best remaining players to the pros or transfer portal. If that happens, it won't matter who the coach is, because the cupboard will be bare for a couple seasons at least

Obviously would like a Purdue win. But looking at it objectively & not as a homer, Purdue will have to play a perfect game to beat this UConn team.

On the other hand I don’t believe that UConn has to necessarily play perfect to beat Purdue.
I see UConn guard play causing havoc to Purdue’s backcourt.
Purdue could end up with 15 plus turnovers.

Hope I don’t need to turn it off early.

As a Purdue grad I am with you. Not impossible but a tall task for sure. Zach needs 25/15, Fletch, Lance and Braden (and Mason I suppose) need to be around 50% from 3. Total team turnovers 10 or fewer. Do that and they can win. Like I said, not impossible but not easy.
