I wonder if people were getting this type of challenge last year as well or they’ve changed things up for this year and moved away from the resort hopper one to this.
A few weekends ago my buddy and I played blackjack at Mandalay Bay from 11:30 PM - 4 AM. $25 table with bets ranging from $25 - $100 (for me, anyway). The same five people were at that table the entire time with a real estate broker from Big Bear being the lone guy when we arrived & the couple from Kalamazoo sitting down maybe 10 minutes after we did. I couldn't tell you how many hands were played or shots of the tequiler were taken, but I can tell you I earned 9.000 measly tier credits for it and MGM and their chincy-ass rewards program can stick it where the sun only shines on a European nude beach. It used to be very nice. Oh, I lost $25 total.
Can confirm that the bonus tier credits do not apply to the challenge. earned a tad over 60k tier and was hoping the bonus would push me over the threshold, nope still needed the rest to finish.
FYI for those trying to hit this challenge. It appears to be date restricted in some fashion. I earned ~15K TC over the weekend and the challenge bar did not move at all. Then I realized that I booked my end of March trip before I booked my early March trip. My guess is that my challenge was generated when I booked my late March trip and they tied the challenge period to that date range.
I just got this challenge, never earned more than 30k TCs and that was for a 5nt stay, now I am staying only 3 nts and they want me to get 46,720 TC .
Got my first challenge. $300 Freeplay for 34,680 tier credits. I don't think I've earned more than 25k without bonuses in a trip, but I'm looking to get the 20k accelerator again after hitting it last trip on slots with only $100 in actual loss despite no hand pays. I did notice the fine print says it expires 14 days after being earned, so hopefully I don't hit it right before I leave.
Ugh. I have a trip coming up where I'm staying MGM - CET - MGM, using two different MGM hotels. The challenge I got specifically mentioned the first hotel, and the expiration date is prior to when I arrive at the second hotel. But I can see where, if you booked two stays to occur at the same hotel in a short-ish time span, and the challenge was actually tied to the later stay, there really wouldn't have been any way for you to realize that, except that the T&Cs use the term "Upcoming Stay" which is singular and might have tipped you off if you saw it.
Sorry for the silly question folks. Does anyone know how to get a challenge from MGM? I usually play at the Borgata, and 1 or 2 times a year in Vegas, and I would say a decent amount. I was Platinum until last year, this year I am Gold. I’ve yet to receive anything on “My Challenges”
It seems to be random, although there is clearly some logic on their end with it. I've never gotten one either, and I'm well above Platinum. I originally was going to say it was targeting players with lower play amounts, but @OlyPhotog got one also, so who knows.
I suspect any challenges will be aimed at getting you to play differently to your usual 'style'. I see others get bonuses for visiting multiple casinos, whereas as I'm a casino hopper playing VP so i have a challenge to spend more on slots (only 5670 tier points needed as I am such a low roller). It has appeared now it is only a couple of weeks until my trip.
Well it appeared that most of the other people getting challenges were those with relatively small amounts of Freeplay/play to start with, but you're the exception!
Across from the My Challenges is View all. When you click on it, it take you to a page that has a Status tab with Active, Success and Ended and a tab with Last 30 days, Last 3 months and Year to date. This leads me to believe that MGM is planning on continuing using challenges in the future.
