    My Trip Report

First time posting a trip report, hope this makes sense. This trip was originally planned to be just my wife and I as a getaway and to mark our 32nd wedding anniversary which was during the stay. We booked directly with TI via their website and well ahead. Airfare was a very good deal thru Southwest $59pp each way. From Phx this is a very short (a little over an hour) and kinda "bumpy" flight but beats the heck out of driving almost 6 hours not counting the construction delays crossing the Dam. About a month before leaving, we decided to try and book a second room , as my youngest daughter and a friend wanted to go. Online again was able to book the air- same deal but the hotel web site had nothing for Sat. arrivals due to a special they started running for Mother's Day; I am guessing. Well I am a member of the MGM player's club and seeing I had an offer for Treasure Island with no particular details showing; I gave a call to the number listed for Casino Marketing. Even though I had gotten the best price after searching the internet booking sites by going to the hotel site, this offer was $10 a night cheaper and this guy had no problem hooking me up with an additional room for SAT. arrival. lesson learned will go this route next time as well.
Flight out of Phx left on time Arrived in Vegas around 2:15p even with the four of us, we got our bags, shuttled to car rental center and on the road, in our Thrifty Wild Car Special (booked online through carrentals.com) in less than 30 minutes. We were put in a Ford Edge(a medium sized SUV) loved it, plenty of room and in the three days only used about $15 bucks in gas. Got to TI and headed to check in only to see a ton of people and started to think this was going to be a disaster. However, they had many check-in clerks and it went very surprisingly fast. I had been mulling over trying the $20 trick(first attempt-read about it here) I had a twenty in my front pocket with my cc and driver's license was going to see who I "drew" when my time came. There was a supervisor hovering back and forth so was not too sure how I would fare. When it was my turn got a mid-twenty's gal and I gave her my name and she only needed the credit card under which I slipped a twenty. This young lady quickly tucked it under her keyboard and began to beam as I told her about our anniversary and the desire to have a view of the South strip and a remodeled room or better if it could be done, she said right away that she was sure she could do something for me. She asked about both rooms and basically gave me everything I voiced- our room had the panorama (2) floor to ceiling windows and was on the 18th floor at the end of a hall. The other on the 19th floor. Then she comped us a bottle of bubbly and when I asked who to call to get a fridge brought up she made the call for me. Our view was of the Wynn and Encore and partway down the Strip towards Harrah's the other wing of the Hotel blocking some of the view. Both rooms right above the Sirens show which wasn't a factor as it didn't go off the whole time we were there. We had tickets to Mystere that night ( which we really enjoyed) and just before we ducked in to get a bite at Kahuanaville- we all really liked this place, ate there twice- they're fries are to die for. After the show it was back to the room, girls both laid back on the bed and decided shortly thereafter that they would rest there while my daughter's friend and I- he was a Vegas newbie, went to check out the Fremont area. They passed out there and hadn't moved when we got in around 3:30a. Had a great time just walking and checking out everything some gambling, some beers and lots of fun just tomcat-ing around. I got up again around six am, showered and went down to the coffee shop. I had a danish and coffee walked around out front and checked out the sports book just to see it(medium to small sized but ok) was very quiet early everything happens later. It was planned that my daughter's friend and I were going to walk over to the Wynn and sign up for the Red Card and try to get us four Buffets cheap. was a nice walk over, went through the Palazzo on the way- Beautiful place- then the Wynn, Wow! signed up and asked about the new player's specials, buffet deal was in place just couldn't be used on Mother's Day(holidays not incl.) and had to go by and activate it with your card at the player's club booth the day you do decide to use it(good for 24 hr. period after activating) He and I found video roulette machines and following the advice from this forum it only took about ten minutes to get the necessary points. He strayed from the plan and actually won $11 I lost the same so we got them for nothing 4 X $40 a pop. that was cool. We had Dinner there Monday night was great just a lengthy wait to get in and we went late (around 8-8:30) was surprised. Also ate at Paris' buffet for Breakfast/ Lunch one day getting there just before they changed for lunch. Think that was Monday morning. We enjoyed that as we had been there before it is a great breakfast place love the crepes and omelets. Monday afternoon we walked and drove part way down the Strip hitting everything on East side between TI and Bill's then crossed the street to see Caesar's and the Forum Shops finishing up at the Mirage then back to TI. That evening. Also made a trip to MGM, NYNY,Tropicana and Luxor didn't get to the Excalibur this time. Not one of our favorites but ok, more Families and kids. Tuesday check out of hotel: tried to use tv to do it but computer was down called front desk they did it for me. All things went smoothly at airports and got home by 3p had another day off then back to work Thursday. Gambled only slots and not all that much wife and I took about $200 a day for that each. She came back slightly ahead and I lost what I planned to - but it lasted me and I did most of the tipping and picked up a couple of the meals( some wins along the way to stretch it out) I was cool with that. Probably one our best times in Vegas so far if not the best. Hotel room was very nice and weather was mid seventies to eighties for the highs, cool in evenings and mornings breezy one afternoon and a sprinkle of rain the night we ate at the Wynn. Can't wait to get there again.

Thank you for feeding my addiction. I wish I could get $59 flights to Vegas I think we'd be there more often. How are the remodeled rooms at TI?
