Hi all, so it’s been 14 yrs since we’ve been to Vegas. Covid screwed up my 50th celebrations. Vegas had undoubtedly changed. 5 (50 ish) guys coming over from Scotland for 5 nights in September. We are trying to pick a hotel to stay at with best bar options to hang & people watch. What’s everyone’s opinions?
I would vote for something center-Strip-ish, somewhere in the Harrah's/Flamingo area on the cheap end, or Caesars/Bellagio on the more expensive end. This gives you the most options for casino/bar-hopping, even if you're staying on foot.
Tough question without more details What sort of atmosphere are you looking for? What type of people are you looking to watch? What do you drink? What time of day? Budget? With or without bar top gaming? How you answer will change my suggestions
The correct answer here will probably depend on the type of people you'd like to watch... Wildcard/general drunk tourist shenanigans? Center-strip East casinos (think PH, Flamingo, Linq), or downtown at Longbar @ The D and Mega Bar @ Circa Pretty people in nice clothes? Pretty much any bar at Wynn/Encore, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, or Gatsby's Bar @ Resorts World Best drinks? Crockfords Bar @ Resorts World Drunk people without shoes? 2-3 AM at Cromwell or any place with a major club
Depending on what your looking for in a bar.... I always enjoy Nine Fine Irishman (NYNY), Piano Bar (NYNY). Carnaval Court (Harrahs), Lyft (Aria), Rush (Golden Nugget), Losers (MGM Grand), Juniper (Park MGM)
@Zeromus-X has the answer -- what *kind* of people watching do you like to do? Do you want to be able to get a table and chill/drink/watch around it? Or do you want to be at the bar top? Nighttime or day? For example, I enjoy Tower Suites bar at Wynn in the morning. Always there's some dude talking his business deal on his cell, or a couple of guys in their 70s smoking a cigar. Nightime, different vibe. Happy belated 50th, and glad you are getting to have a re-do!
Some of my top spots, in order: 1. Lobby Bar, Caesars Palace 2. Lobby Bar, Encore 3. Vesper Bar, Cosmo 4. Petrossian Bar, Bellagio 5. Center Bar, Mirage
Caesars has a bunch of bars off the casino floor some with VP some without. They also have several with soft chairs and tables for sitting. Harrahs has a bar along the main part of the casino, they also have some bars by the check in that are hilarious people watching at certain times. Baccarat Bar at Bellagio is probably the best casino bar in my opinion and they have some other bars around the casino that are nice.
Baccarat Bar is definitely a good one for people watching. Slightly elevated, no walls or windows to get in the way, good view of the main floor as well as the goings on in the high limit room.... The "downside" is that it is supposedly a cigar bar, but the couple of times I was there, there wasn't anybody smoking.
uh, huh, my topic. "somewhat" of an expert at that. - Caesars Lobby bar, new, oldschool very good bartenders (be aware that it is $40min buy in for comped drinks, and you will get swarmed by hoo...errr lady's after 1am) - Bellagio sportsbook bar. Maybe the best bartenders in the world, very friendly and lively environment - Bellagio baccarat bar. Fantastic bartenders, and VP paytables that aren't half bad for mid strip (7/5 BP) - MGM "the long, now clue how it is called" bar stretching half the casino. Good bartenders, nickel multiplay VP with all the funny stuff (STP/UX etc) - Mandalay "the center, now clue how it is called" bar, same games as the MGM bar - Luxor "guess what, no clue about the name" bar (the biggest one), same games as MGM bar - Planet Hollywood Heart bar, shitty games, fantastic bartenders - Planet Hollywood Sports bar, guess what? shitty games, fantastic bartenders - Cromwell bar...yeah, you got it, other than bartenders are hit or miss Now if you venture a bit off strip... - Strat "in the center bar", fantastic bartenders, ok games, super nice beer selection on draft - Ellis Island bar, shitty VP, but nice bartenders and their own drafts - Feeling really "unshootable/unstabeble"? Aztec in, 5c single line VP...DON'T DO IT I will leave it to others to comment about downtown, but one thing I can say (yes, know about the paytable downgrades), that the bar, the bartenders, as well as the whole look of Main street Station are fantastic...
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. All booked up for September so will be dropping into some of these.
I was at a concert at Westgate and when I got out of the concert they had a great band playing in the lobby bar area. I was pleasantly surprised and was told they have this every night. Kind of old school Vegas vibe
Baccarat Bar at Bellagio is also a personal favourite - always seems to be great people watching and interesting (in a good way) characters. Love any bar at Cosmo as well!
best vibe I've ever had. Just ignore a couple of naked (literally) riffraffs who are shouting and doing crazy things.
