Hard to justify on a spreadsheet when you can't quantify the value.

A beancounter will never see this. A good owner/manager/operator knows, without a doubt.

Yes...it is a shame that we are now quite a ways down the road from when it was the Horseshoe . I can remember the 6 craps tables right up front all packed to the gills, and then the long row of single deck blackjack dealers just going about their job as they had for 40 years, with a very sharp pit crew knowing exactly how to handle anyone angling on them. Validate your own parking, get a free picture with the million dollars, and it really took only asking to get a cheap meal at the deli if you had given them an honest hour of gambling.

Liquor in the front, poker in the rear. Now, no poker anywhere, and a waste of space on the old Mint side. If cornhole bean bag tournaments could be monetized, they've got the space. Anything to draw a new crowd and generate some excitement. Or maybe shuffleboard to draw an old crowd.
IIRC I read in another thread that the only poker downtown is at GN.

Agree with most everything posted on this thread. It seems to be that Terry Caudill just uses his two downtown casinos as cash cows and has little to no interest in investing in the properties or his employees (which is a huge shame, his employees at both places are his greatest asset, by far). WLU and the hotel apache were basically gimmicks to make it seem like he was going to be investing in Binions. Eventually, this will come back to bite him. The lack of investment in technology already has in the form of ransomware attacks.

He has been renovating the rooms at the 4Q, but Binions not so much.
I understand the main problem at Binions, with the asbestos issues...but gaming area in the old Mint side is a disgrace. The carpet is horrible and the escalators going up to the second floor and WLU are broken more often than not.

Are the issues with the (closed) hotel rooms, or is there an issue in the casino?

I’m sure it’s in the casino area as well, but they really haven’t done much to the casino floor that would cause it to be an issue like a major renovation or anything. My guess is they likely had to do some abatement when they were putting in WLU and maybe renovating hotel Apache.

One of our favorite place. Always visit just for old time sake. Along with ElCortez, Gold Nugget , and 4 Q's

I used to love playing here. It slowly got worse and worse. I really used to like the coffee shop for breakfast but the last couple of times we tried to go there we've walked out. One time we got seated and never saw a waitress and finally gave in and left (pre covid). The table games are really a shame now. I used to love playing BJ here and have a lot of fun memories at their tables, but now we really don't play in there and mostly used it as a shortcut to get to the Cal and MSS (as previously mentioned in this thread). I really hope someone eventually realizes the value of this place and turns it around.

I’ve said it before and I guess I’ll say it again:

Binions is a favorite aunt or uncle when you were a kid: kind, generous and taught you things. But after having lived a good life, tragically now on life support with no chance of recovery, and no living will or DNR declaration.

And this is the reason I will never play there. Well, that and no good vp.

Interesting take when you factor in the value of Binions best VP + slot club bennies + value of mailers.

True, adding everything together you will approach 100%
But walk across the street to their sister property the 4Q and you will exceed 100%

I like the 8/5 Bonus Poker machines at Binions near the Deli. But Four Queens does have better pay schedules and unlike Binions, the cocktail waitresses at least occasionally stop by.

Binions for us was our trip to downtown for a nice meal. We loved the steakhouse. The food was always really good but the views were as good as it get for Vegas. Night trips downtown aren’t the same!

Binions is significantly > 100% when factoring in mailers for out of towners. In addition, the per hour value of Binions is greater than 4Q since they still have $ denom on their best VP.

Beverage service definitely leaves something to be desired at Binions but once the CW knows you're back there she will make very frequent passes for those that tip.

Not trying to start a fight here, but I have found some good vp at Binion’s in the form of $.25 9/6 ddb. I will say that I have a hard time playing there for any length of time. We just can’t seem to get a good vibe going there that grabs us and keeps us for hours.

If you don't mind, can you tell us how much coin-in you give them (or points earned) and what level of free play you get in the mailers. Thanks.
