Las Vegas & a Grand Tour. June 21-25, 2021

This is a solo trip, which is the norm. I'll do with this report what I've done with my previous reports, one post = one day.

Day #1. June 21. Monday:

Took off from Houston at 6:10am. Full plane. Landed in Las Vegas at 6:59am. I checked into the Mirage at was able to get to my room at 8:45am. I was in a one bedroom penthouse suite.

For breakfast I ate at The Pantry (in the Mirage). I had to wait until 10:50am to sit & eat. Long waiting list. I had a smothered breakfast burrito. Big & very good.

I then went to the dolphin habitat at the Mirage. 11:37am.

I was supposed to take a tour of Allegiant Stadium, but because I had a camera, I wasn't allowed in.

For dinner I went to Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at the MGM Grand. 5:12pm. I ate the taco pizza. Good, but way too much shredded cheese & lettuce. Most of that was left on the plate.

After dinner I putzed around taking pictures.

Nice first day! Did you need reservations at the Pantry?

 

Probably so. Probably should have done a reservation before I got there. I didn't realize how popular the place is. I went on the restaurant's website & put my name on a waitlist. I had to wait 90 minutes for my table to be ready.

You couldn’t take a camera into the stadium but they let people take phones in that has a camera in it?

 

The site for the tickets & emails from the Raiders never said people couldn't bring a camera. I wish they would let people know beforehand. It was a waste of about $50 for me.

That’s ridiculous! They should have given you a refund!

 

That would have been nice. I didn't feel like fighting it. I think there were two or three other people that had the same thing happen earlier in the day. If they are doing the tour during the week I'm there in December, I'll give it another try. Leave both my cameras in my room.

Day #2. June 22. Tuesday:

I woke up at 7am. Got ready for the day. I headed out for breakfast. Along the way I took some pictures.

Breakfast was at Citizens Bar & Grill inside Mandalay Bay 9:45sm. I ate a breakfast sandwich with potatoes on the side. Very good. I then headed for my first activity of the day. I took some pictures along the way.

Next up was the Madame Tussauds wax museum at the Venetian. 1:33pm. The second half of last year the price went from $30 to $35. Now it's $45.

I then went to my room to rest. I eventually headed out for dinner. On my way I took some pictures. I came across a duck & her babies in the water in front of the Mirage.

There is a bridge that goes from Treasure Island to the Fashion Show Mall. In the elevator on the mall side were a bunch of coat hangers. I'm willing to bet someone stole clothes from one of the stores inside the mall.

For dinner I went to the Sugar Factory at the Fashion Show Mall.. I ate a hamburger with macaroni & cheese on top of the meat & french fries. Very good. I then had a strawberry milkshake. Also very good. On my way back to my room I took more pictures.

I woke up at 4:30am & got ready for the day. The reason for the early rise is that I went on a tour of the west rim of the Grand Canyon. I got picked up at 6:25am. Along the way I took pictures.

I made it back to my room at 4:22pm. For dinner I went to Carlos N Charlie's inside the Flamingo.5:45pm. I ate chips & salsa, chicken enchiladas, rice & beans. The chips & salsa were very good. The enchiladas were ok. I then putzed around taking pictures.

Day #4. June 24. Wednesday

I woke up at 5:45am & got ready for the day. For breakfast I ate at the MGM Grand buffet. 8::15am. It was good to be back at a self serving buffet. There wasn't as much of a selection as before, but the food was good. It got pretty busy about half way through my time there. I then went to the Bellagio conservatory. 11:27am. There was a new setup I hadn't seen before.
