South Point Question

Last trip Oct 2019, the "horse odor" funneling down the corridors toward the Cafe was unmistakable. Just dealt with it as "what does one expect from a rodeo destination" But it was bad.

Palace Station far better in my book. The South Point Oyster Bar was just kinda "meh" the one time I've been to it.

 

I didn't even notice an odor when I was in the Arena watching.

Palace Oyster Bar much better pan roast than SP Oyster Bar. I can’t comment on any other food at either since I only have ordered pan roasts. I wouldn’t go out of my way to do SP Oyster Bar but if I was staying at SP and didn’t feel like leaving SP, it would suffice.

 

Regarding mailers, as was previously stated, don’t expect any. I don’t get up front comps there but back-end comps have been more than fair. They do 0.3% comp points on vp play which is pretty generous nowadays and it adds up so between the back-end room comp and paying for food with points, it’s a great place to stay and it won’t break the bank.

 

It took them 3 years before they starting sending me casino rate room offers, via email. To be fair I have not gambled there a lot and have never stayed there, so I must of finally fallen into their demographics.

 

I don't think it took me three years, but don't follow Al Davis' advice and just win Baby, because if you do, those offers will dry up faster than LAS in the summertime!

 

The recent mask mandates seem to have an effect on reservations. Before the mandate, five weeks ago, I tried to book an offer for August at South Point and was declined- told it was sold out. I called yesterday, on a hunch, and booked the offer, on the same dates.

 

Soooooo... we 4 needed TWO rooms for one mid week night, during a week long trip in early November- because our next door to the South Point accomodation, won’t be available.

Based on our 2019 play, we snagged one, with the other promised to be comped based on our action, across multiple forms of gambling. Thought that was decent ofthe SP , especially as they are claiming limited availability.

 

I've been getting mailers from them for several years, usually 2 free nights, $100 resort credits, $40free play. But I can always call Roxanne and get a suite. Haven't come close to paying for a room (or food) there for several years. Not sure what I'm doing differently but they've always been extremely generous with me.

I'm not a seafood lover, but I will say I do love the New England Clam chowder at the Oyster Bar. The new lobster grilled cheese is also great but really rich and filling. Split that with someone. Love the VP selection there, the eating options. It's not the Bellagio but I'd gladly go to SP and get all my stuff paid for and get better gambling.

I think during my trip last summer I averaged about 21,000pts per day....but that was also a winning trip and I had good streaks going. In Feb this year I probably barely made 1/2 that each day
