Just got this in an email from a host at Encore Boston Harbor and thought I would pass it along:

    I have great news!

Our Governor has lifted the curfew in Massachusetts starting on Monday, January 25th at 5am. With that being said, our hotel will reopen nextThursday (01.28).

Transition until we are open 24/7again:
From today until Sunday (01.24) we will be open from 9am to 9pm.
On Monday (01.25) and Tuesday (01.26) we will be open from 9am to 12am.
On Wednesday (01.27) we will open at 9am and hopefully never close again ?

    IMPORTANT INFO (until further notice):
Hotel: Open Thursday thru Sundaynights only.
Spa: Reopening on 02.04. Open Thursday thru Sunday only.
    Restaurants: New hours TBD.
    Stores: New hours TBD.
Craps: Still not available, per the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

It looks like the hotel at Encore will not be open again until V-Day weekend (source: me trying to book something on the website just now).

If you really want to book you should call them or check online tomorrow. They probably just haven’t updated the availability dates on their website yet.

An update. One can now book online for stays as soon as next Thursday (28 January 2021). Now they just need to get the room comp offers going again -- though I'll understand if those don't come back for a good while due to all that lost hotel revenue from the past 2+ months.

Interesting. Next weekend must have been taken off of the board for us commoner lower-rollers sometime in the time since I posted above. For sure, I did not get an email telling me about the hotel reopening.

The dice tables remain closed. The other table games are back (though roulette took a while).

    Poker also remains out.

I’m actually wondering if poker will be back at all...they 100% converted the entire poker area to fire link slots and stadium seating table games.

Table games have been open the whole time but too rich for my blood personally.....

I went down last night...hit 4aces w/ low card on 6 card VP for $1000 but pit 600 back...probably why they keep inviting me....

in any case thought was very funny as I heard multiple staff talking to each other about how they’d much rather close at 9 every night instead of going back to 24 hours

Read last week on a local news site MGM Springfield is finally opening up their hotel on March 5th. The article also said the first floor is now open to some select gamblers and I suspect it has been for some time. I read a review on yelp or some such where a lady was complaining about her stay in January. But whatever. I had a host there and emailed her for the first time in a year, of course I never got a response. I didn't really expect one from her, so many employees were furloughed or laid off. So I called today to see if they had a room for me some day this week and the lady who answered was unhelpful and kinda rude. I told her what I read and asked about a room and she just totally blew me off in very few words. Oh well.

I gotta get out of the house! Just checked Foxwoods ($200) and Mohegan ($250) for wednesday nite. Too rich for me. I'd rather lose it in the casino. Anyone have a host email address they'd be willing to share with me?

Are the Encore or MGM checking your ID to see if you are compliant with the state travel restrictions? I had heard the the Seneca casino in Buffalo was but that was second hand info.

They have re-opened craps but it looks like they have the same plexiglass setup as Foxwoods, which is severely restrictive of your movements. :(

I went to Encore last weekend, no ID check at all. MGM Springfield checks ID upon entry, but I don't think they deny your based on your state, I think it's more of a security thing.

No IDs checked no. FWIW Foxwoods is the worst of the New England ones as far as crowding too many people and cleanliness right now. Pick Mohegan or Boston harbor...

I could totally see that. I'm sure they crowd they have to deal with gets increasingly obnoxious as the night wears on and into the AM. That's why I keep my same sleeping habits when I'm in Vegas. I get up early and have coffee and play and at night we usually head up about 11 before it gets to drunk and obnoxious out. There are a few drunks (I mean really drunk) at 6AM but it seems like they magically disappear by 7 when the sun comes up so if I'm awake at 6, I usually fuck around in the room a bit and don't head down until 6:45-7.
