We’ve got rooms comped at every CET and MGM hotel but are interested in staying at the Cosmopolitan. We’re members there, too, but haven’t gotten comps offered. If we called and said we’re comped at the others, would they “match” it?
https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/welcome-offer-from-the-cosmopolitan.128437/ Look at this thread. Executive level manager from Cosmo has been matching and assisting through this forum.
But be warned to truly match the comp would need to be a comparable value to what the Cosmo gives. A comp weekend at the Linq isn’t going to match to anything at the Cosmo. That said, at worst you would probably get a decent casino rate.
Agree with the above. Cosmo (really means Mr Sweet here) is smart. If you present your regular Mlife offers, then they know your average trip theo there. A comparable offer can be made. If your regular offers are just free rooms at Mlife or CET, not expect much from a match.
I'm not a cosmo player and it might just be that I've observed the wrong thing, but it also appears that Cosmo values slot play more than table play, so how you got your offer might affect things. I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong here, but it seems like it's been the case.
Also their system is set up to where it calculates the exact theoretical for the machines you play. So they can calculate your value as a customer very precisely.
Not that I doubt you, but do you have a source/know how they do that? I've never played at Cosmo, I figure I'm too much of a low roller for them, but that sounds interesting. Is there a Cosmo app (like the MGM app) that shows you your earned comps down to the penny? From there you could figure out the RTP of the machines, which I would love to know.
That detailed information isn’t available to us the public. But Kevin, the Cosmo slot vp that posts here has said they have the ability to track the return on a per machine basis. Their web site updates pretty quickly with points earned and coin in. You can make reasonable guesses as to your theoretical is from that. But the exact number like knowing one certain slot is 8% while another is 12% isn’t known to us the customer.
Interesting. I'm sure every casino has the ability to do so, it should be fairly trivial. Thanks for the info. Maybe one day I'll sign up at Cosmo and play with that for fun.
I thought the formula for awarding Identity Points on slot play was straight forward and only varies based on the players Tier level, while the discretionary comp earnings (based on theo) is kept proprietary.
You’re correct. I thought that’s what I had explained, sorry if it wasn’t clear. Points earned is straightforward. Don’t forget that tier points are not multiplied for higher tiers, just the points that can be cashed in for comps and free play. But the theo value of our play can only be guessed by us and with enough play you can kind of get a rough idea. Also we are not privy to their valuation of things like rooms, concert tickets, etc...
Many player's clubs nowadays are using machine theo in TC or RC calculation, in principle you can deduce the theo of the machine you are playing.
I mentioned in other threads. such as: Penn's mycash points are based on theo, Tier points still coin-in. Mlife's Express Comps are on Theo. Points still coin-in.
I don't remember when exactly Penn changed into that, a few years ago. Used to be all based on coin-in. Mlife just changed to that very recently, 2018 or 2019(?)
