That sounds about right. I made the same trip almost a year ago, from SP to GN, and it was in that price range.

FWIW. It sound like the M Resort may also fit your bill. Plus it’s close to SP and the rooms are nicer. No buffet though ( currently)!

The South Point is less crowded Monday -Thursday. The casino is the busiest off Strip place I have been to. If I were guessing I would say they are about 90% capacity compared to normal times on weekends and about 70% capacity compared to normal time on weekdays.

Love Southpoint. Been there at least once a year for the last 10 years.

Just planning another trip for Feb.....host is comping me a 1500sqft suite plus an additional king room. I love the food, the easy comps, the layout, the food, the liquor store in the gift shop, the bowling, and the food.

But I'm not a foodie. I just like good food at a good price.

On the surface, the M's rooms may look nicer, but the South Point rooms were remodeled with high quality materials. Ok, so the SP rooms don't have the electrochromic window separating a soaker tub from the main room, but with the laminate faux hardwood floors and high quality tile, the SP rooms will still be nice long after the M rooms will seem worn and outdated. The way I see it, if a person prefers upscale-appearing urban amenities, then the M is probably their room of choice. For people who might have rural or blue collar backgrounds, I think they will appreciate the SP rooms more. If they built the houses on the High Chapparal or the Ponderosa today, the guest rooms would be a lot like the South Point's. It's like they were remodeled by someone with a lifetime of experience with the intent of the room still being nice after many guests have stayed there.

IMO, South Point has some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas. I especially like Don Vito's for Italian and the Coronado Café for 24 hour coffee shop food. I also love how easy it is to park there and the Grandview Lounge for a drink and entertainment. Good video poker!

I spent a couple days there for the first time last month and agree with all of this. Even the $3 milkshakes at Steak 'n Shake during half price happy hour are a nice touch.

Just came back from 1 night at the Cal, 2 nights at SP,
all the positives mentioned so far are true.

Everything about South Point was as close to business as usual as it could be,
Valet & Bellmen up, Cafe and the store being open 24 hrs,

The room was, IMO, superior to the Cal standard.
There were so many little things we liked better,
like an actual insulated ice bucket- (cal just provided the bag),
working wifi, outlets all over the place,
a small desk, chair w. ottoman, and a two seat table in the room.

Spent a lot of time enjoying $5 min Craps, in the wee hours became only 1 table, $10 min, Box man sincerely thanked me twice for all my dealer bets, never had that happen before.

(@Bobby B , emailed Rox a while ago, she never returned my email, I'll give it another try before next trip)

also there's currently a promo going on where any machine play betting $1 gets you eligible for a progressive that must pay by $25K. Looks like it was paid at least twice while we were there.

Gambled quite a bit at the SP on my trip that ended last Monday. It was pretty crowded on the weekends. Hit a $5 BM table Friday afternoon around 200 PM. Watched football there. Had the $1.25 hot dogs. $2 domestic beers in the sports book area during football games . Enjoyed the $14.99 prime rib at the Coronado Cafe. They were very vigilant in enforcing the mask rules. SP is always a good time

Just spent a half day at SP on Tuesday. As others have stated, good food options. Place had a good crowd while I was there. The cafe even had a small wait near lunch time. Drink service was excellent in my section. I am starting to tire of staying downtown and I am going to probably start staying at SP and just visiting downtown to gamble. The employees seem nice every time I visit. I prefer the typical clientele I see at SP compared to downtown nowadays. I have loved downtown for years but I am about ready for a change.

I'm a bit surprised she didn't respond. She's been very good with me and emails. I know she's off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Try once more, if no response, you can always call her. Just call the main hotel number and ask for her.

My Vegas trips are always around events at t-mobile so my stays are near there.
Very rarely do I go just to go. I close to that stage in life but not quite there.
Admit SP does sound like one of the first places I want to try. Might even spend an afternoon/evening next time.

Hey if anyone gets over there soon could you take some pics of the new set up for the Oyster Bar? I'm curious what the renovation involved, and I don't see any pictures on their website

I was told that most of the renovations were for the cooking area. They did add two or three tables.
If you like seafood, the Oyster Bar is the place to go at South Point.
