Anyone going to go opening day? Ironically, I'll be in Vegas, but might swing by at the end of the month.

I'm waiting for the hotel to re-open -- which appears to be August at the earliest. Also waiting for the monthly mailer enticements to hopefully resume.

I love MA and lived there many years. But they can go a little overboard at times. Buried in there is a new rule from the gaming board that prohibits people from walking abt all MA casinos with a drink in hand.

If they do not allow table games on 7/13 then I'll let the slot players take it over

I did get an invite to go Sunday the 12th. Probably not going to take advantage.
Mask is mandatory.... No mask, no admittance, no argument.
Same at Plainridge Racino. My partner in crime just qualified 4 horses to race next week, sans fans in the track area, but the simulcast room will be open. I'd rather be outside watching the races. Makes more sense to me,
but I am just a lowly schmuck.

And yes, walking about with a drink is verboten.

Please note, following guidelines set forth by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, MGM Springfield will implement the following health and safety protocols.

    1. Guests are required to wear masks that cover the nose and mouth.
    2. Social distancing will be expected.
    3. Bars and nightclubs will be closed.
    4. Beverages may be consumed only when seated and actively engaged in gambling, or in restaurants. Guests are not allowed to carry or drink beverages while moving about the gaming area.
    5. The casino will operate at reduced capacity and possibly for limited hours. For planning purposes, check the casino’s website and social media, or call the casino for inquiries regarding capacity levels.

I made a reservation for late August.

Says no craps, roulette, but will have BJ (which I don't play), makes me wonder if they will have other table games open specifically bacc.

I see the thing about not being able to carry a drink around, that is really going to have to be clarified. Seems like it is a reaction to people elsewhere using the drink thing as an excuse to walk around with their mask on their chin. But are you telling me I can't walk through the casino with a open can of coke? That one needs some work. If I go there, which looks likely, I plan to fill up a quart bottle with some concoction and carry it around while playing slots.

Casino not being open 24 hrs would suck.

On a side note, I was looking at Encore Boston, they've got $199 weekdays $249/$299 weekends which is a good price, but too high for me for me since I can't get comped any. But surprisingly, it looks like the hotel is only going to be open Thurs - Sunday nights. This doesn't appear to be a glitch.

BTW, any significant differences in normal table procedures and customs between Springfield and Vegas?

I finally got the invite from Springfield. I was not quite expecting it. I am Mlife Gold (just barely), and my status appears in an image in the email. My early access invitation is for both Saturday and Sunday, and I can bring up to four other guests with me.

[This paragraph might be a better fit for the "Comps" forum.] My Tuesday-Thursday weekly free play amount from the before-time has returned -- only it is now Friday-Sunday. That means that I get $x in FP every FP period, and each FP period is Fri-Sun every week. That extends all the way through the end of August. Before, the weekend FP period was Fri-Sat, with the mid-week period being Tue-Thu (slightly less FP than the weekend period) and giveaway days being Sun-Mon (no regular FP). Extending the weekend FP to Sunday is probably to make up for the giveaway days that will not be happening anytime soon. Still no indicators of less than 24-hour access or the casino being open only on certain days of the week.

The incentive to go this weekend is just not there for me. Not enough amenities available. Not enough comp enticement -- though fortunately not less than I would strategically consume there relative to what they can provide right now (with hotel rooms, most dining, and any form of entertainment being the most absent). Nothing extra this weekend in my offers that won't be there several weekends from now. Also, we just need to see how things shake out.

I think I'm going to head over in a few hours. Let me know if anyone wants me to scope anything out.

I'm interested in what the scheme seems to be in terms of disabled slots. I saw a few pics from a story the local TV station did and I saw:
    • Bank of two machines side by side, one disabled (makes sense)
    • Bank of three machines side by side, one on the end working, the other two disabled (eh)
    • Bank of six slant tops, one in the middle working (and one chair in the area), the other five disabled (huh?)
Also the walking around with a drink thing. I think they implemented that because they saw people in Vegas using it as a way leave their mask hanging. But it makes no sense. See someone walking around with their mask down, signal them them to pull it up. Mask up unless you're actually drinking. If the mask is up, what diff does it make if they're carrying a drink around or not? I don't think you can get an answer for the rationale, but I'd be interested to know how it's actually working.

Also if you can get any hint from somebody on when they think the hotel might open. They say they're dependent on convention and meeting business, but it's not that big of a hotel and I'd expect I can't be the only one planning on substituting it for a Vegas trip.

If you could check out the $25 blackjack pit near the hi limit room, I'd appreciate it. That's usually where I play as there is a sort of hidden restroom in the hi limit room and also a cashier so you don't have to go to the main cage.

A client/friend of mine called me and asked if I wanted to go today, but I have some other things to tend to and was going to have him call me Monday.
I'll await your report before deciding on whether to take up my invite for Sunday.

Thanks for asking and good luck.
Too bad the Craps tables aren't open because after all, the date is 7/11

Yesterday, I got my July mailer in digital form. FP periods are M-Th and F-Sun, all the way to 3 September 2020 (just before Labor Day weekend). Same amount of FP each period. FP is going to be the extent of enticements for a while. Even a token $10 dining credit per month would have been nice -- though 10% of theo already coming back as Express Comps is OK.

Bars closed = no bartop VP, correct? Not that I would play on the bartops there, with the higher coin denom and not-good pay tables.

Overall, decent trip. Didn't win. Good amount of people there, everyone wearing masks. Drink service seemed good (wasn't drinking, but I got asked maybe 3 or 4 times over the course of an hour. I haven't been there to gamble since probably November 2019 (go there more often for business meetings), so if some of my remarks seem dated... sorry!

All those tables were closed right next to the high limit area.

I believe so. I did see a newer bar top area, but no one was sitting at the bar. But I did see a few banks of VP which I also hadn't seen before.
