Laundry services

We will be in Vegas for at least 10 days and maybe up to 14 days on the strip at the Bellagio 3 days, New York New York 3 days and Luxor for 4 days and was curious about regular laundry services at the hotels. I looked on the MGM web site and could not find any info about it but I believe I have seen it offered. Just want to be sure or should we plan to find a local laundromat and do our own laundry while we are there.

 

Thanks Sonya, I thought most of them offered the service but was not sure. We will have a car for part of our stay so we might just do it our self.

Just pack your things in a bag / case and leave with the bell desk ahead of the stated pick up time and they will be dropped back off in the evening. I honestly cant remember how much we paid in total (taking into account bell desk tips) but it was probably the same for a sports bag full of stuff as it would be for 4/5 items through hotel laundry.

It's one of those things where I was convinced something would go wrong, but it was clockwork.

 

@notfromconcentrate can probably offer a suggestion or two.

The only two times I did laundry was when I was staying in a wraparound suite at the Cosmo (I think they removed the washer/dryer's though) and a panoramic suite at Vdara.

 

I've personally used West Flamingo Fluff and Fold, where they do pickup and dropoff. Could not be simpler... call them to arrange and make payment, put your dirty laundry in an empty suitcase, leave it at the bell desk telling them West Flamingo Fluff and Fold is coming to pick it up. They pick it up, do the laundry, then drop it off shortly after. In my case staying in a suite at Aria, they even brought it right up to the suite for me (though of course, that's not to say all hotels will do this, especially under current circumstances). It was $2 per pound with a 10lb minimum, and a $20 pickup/dropoff charge, for $40 plus tax total. Considering the time savings, that's one hell of a deal.

I also have a running list going of hotels that have on-site laundry facilities, if you'd prefer to do it yourself. Again, under current circumstances, these facilities may not be available as normal, so it's best to check. But pre-pandemic, my research has determined each of these places has it.

Main Street Station in the RV park (which you can access as a guest of California or Fremont too, just go to the front desk of MSS with your ID and room key and they'll make a key for the RV park laundry door for you)

Sam’s Town (in the RV park, which is south of the parking garage and about a 5m walk from the hotel... you need to ask the front desk for the code to access the laundry building)

Thanks for the info about Fluff and Fold service, That sounds like a great deal and I don't spend my vacation in some hot laundromat in a shady part of town I have no idea about. If we don't have a car then I would have to uber over and back and the couple of hours there and buying the laundry supplies makes this service a great deal to me. Thanks again

 

You're most welcome! Just for clarity (and this likely further justifies your decision), you generally have to be a guest at a hotel to do laundry there. So if you weren't planning on staying at any of these places anyhow... it effectively makes fluff and fold the only way to go.

As someone who regularly does laundry on trips, I wouldn't sweat it when it comes to having to find supplies. I've poured detergent into an empty bottle and just brought that with me... likewise for a Tide pod. They often sell such supplies wherever laundry can be done, though I have been caught in a situation where this wasn't the case which was quite an experience as I'm sure you can imagine.

@notfromconcentrate you can add the Cannery casino and the Alamo casino truck stop to your list.

 

How much of a tip should I give the bell desk, I've never used the bell desk services.

 

I'd say $2 or $3 is acceptable. If storing/retrieving luggage, for one or two bags I'd tip $1 to $2. But since there might be a bit more effort involved with them having to write instructions for when they come to pick up, I'd take that into account when tipping on drop-off.

When dropping it off at the bell desk, I'd ask them how retrieving the bag works. If you have to collect it from the bell desk, my pick-up tip would be about $1 or $2. Though if they can arrange for it to be brought up to your room, I'd probably leave $4 or $5 in a conspicuous place near the entrance of your room with a note that says something like "For laundry drop-off".

 

I used the Fluff and Fold laundry service on west Flamingo a couple of years ago. I dropped off my laundry and was able to pick up my clean, neatly folded clothes the next day. Cost was $2/pound with a ten pound minimum. A pickup/drop off service is an added plus. I would not hesitate using their services during a future extended Vegas trip.

Just bring an extra luggage of clothes and save yourself all the trouble

is my go to. The hotels cost a lot of money. When I last stayed the El Cortez they picked it up and I had it back the next day Just bring an old pillowcase or a trash bag to put it in. I left it at the bell desk and it was returned there as well.

 

On a side note I thoroughly enjoyed reading over your TR. Food looked outstanding and photos of the Jade carvings was really beautiful. Don't blame you for the photo's of the greeting girls, very tall and pretty... I would love to travel to Asia and my wife and need to plan for a trip like that sometime.
