Circa On Track to Open October 28th, Hotel by Dec 28, 2020

Just in time for my birthday

 

Place looks nice, should make downtown rock.

 

Just got the email today with all the videos and pictures.

-"The atmosphere is upbeat and animated. Loud music, high energy, and a feeling of boundless possibility."
So he's going with the Golden Gate/D model. There are going to be two floors of casino it says, so maybe one floor won't be quite as loud. I DO enjoy the energy of the other two places but do get tired of yelling to talk over the music.
-Biggest sports book in the world he claims. It's like he's read our "what would the perfect sports book be" threads here.
-The sports theme runs through the whole place it looks like. Ghost of The Las Vegas Club?
-Fancy steak place, Asian upscale, Deli, and the bbq truck with outdoor seating. OK.
-The pool is going to be different from other places' pools. I wonder if they have done sun studies to see how that will be on it.

I wish him luck. HUGE gamble in the current state of things. I know that I am eager to check it out for sure.

I love it and I hate it. So excited to see the new casino/hotel and just in awe what Mr. Stevens was able to accomplish. However, the other side of the coin tells me this is going to change downtown and I'm not sure if I'll be a fan of what this creates in 5-10 years. 10/28 will be a seminal moment for sure.

 

This exactly. The clientele and dynamic of downtown will change if this is successful. While the strip will always be the strip, the options of 5 dollar tables and cheap options may fall.

The place does look awesome though and I'm a huge advocate for his other properties.

 

My opinion on what this means for Downtown: 1) Golden Nugget’s high end customers move to Circa, leaving them to rethink how to compete; 2) some dedicated Strip customers will be making room in their trips for a few Downtown days; 3) other Downtown properties will enjoy an increase in visitors and will have to push for value gaming and dining since their hotel rooms will become devalued. So, in an uncharacteristicly optimistic prediction, I win!

I'm a strip person and could not see myself staying Downtown, especially because of everyone saying how loud it can be when trying to sleep. I do enjoy going downtown once per trip to play some old slots that can't be found on strip. But everything I've seen so far from Circa looks really nice and I definitely will be taking a day to explore the new property.

 

The design of the Circa should reduce much of the noise in the rooms as the hotel part is away from the canopy where some of the older places are right on Fremont St.

 

What do we think the resort fee will be on Wednesday when we can book rooms? My guess is around $35 + tax.

 

Circa tweeted out today that the property will only be for people 21 years of age and up. Obviously minors aren't allowed in casinos, but does this mean that children won't be allowed to stay in the property, use the pool, eat at the restaurants, etc?

The Circa account replied to the person asking if it's all 21+

'That's right! Circa will be 21+ Only'

Interesting to see how that plays out, for sure.

21+ I just may venture away from the strip to stay here. Sorry but not a fan of kids in Vegas Hotels.

Hmmmm ... I wonder how strictly they will enforce the 21+ rule?

I know that at times, at the D, there would be a security guy at the main entrance who stopped anyone appearing to be under age and carded them. I don't remember if they were turning away families with kids.

 

As someone who stays almost exclusively on the Strip and only ventures downtown once in a while, I am genuinely excited to check out this hotel. Everything about it so far intrigues me and has convinced me to set aside time to visit next trip (whenever that may be). This bodes well for the success of Circa but may not make fans of downtown “as it is” too excited because it may mean a shift in the atmosphere/ambience/clientele. And that may mean a shift in gaming rules, bargain prices, etc.
