I'm Watching Old Movies....

We have this OTA channel, Movies!, that runs a lot of black and white cinema, especially film noir. For some reason, I get sucked into these old movies and just settle in and watch. It seems to me that the acting in films is much better today, than yesteryear, but the stories themselves hold my attention.

 

I still quote the 'Pint of Old Harpers' scene from American Graffiti. And I too have Flamingo Kid on DVD but haven't watched it in at least twenty years. Might have to break that out later.

Speaking of Matt Dillon and old movies, just rewatched Over the Edge, his first big screen appearance. Late 70s tale about disaffected wayward youth living in the suburbs. Good movie and great soundtrack.

 

I could watch this every week,class.

How did I miss these! Been looking to watch Flamingo kid with my 14 yo, she loves playing gin with me! and 3000 Miles to Graceland is classic!

 

I agree and I love watching b/w movies any drama, western, comedy etc as it seem to put me in in a different world/reality watching this.

TCM has those old 1940 and 1950 film noir crime drama movies. I love those movies. Pure escapism. No social messages, just good drama and always a no good female to lead the male star astray.

 

Maybe not just for old movies but I like that Spectrum is giving free access to Showtime and Epix.

 

Maybe all of you know abot the Internet Archive already but on the chance you don't they have a ton of public domain movies. Old B sci-fi is one of my favorites. A lot of historical government videos too along with audio files.

Just recently saw Les Misérables (1935) staring Fredric March. Great all-around movie.

 

A couple of months ago my husband and I watched several of the old Hitchcock movies. Loved Vertigo and To Catch a Thief.

 

Vertigo is a favorite! North by Northwest is my #1 tho. TCaT, Notorius and Dial M for Murder are up there tho.

Watched Willow a couple of days ago. A young Val Kilmer and Warwick Davis.

 

Added "Turn the River" to my "gambling/vegas" watch list above, finally saw the Cooler the other day...good, but I didn't like Baldwin in that role so much...the rest of the cast carried the flick. The story was good. May watch Turn the River or Cinicannati Kid today, tho I have seen the latter film several times already.
