Is it normal the show theaters aren't sold out?

I'm here in February (obviously) saw two shows, neither show was sold out, second show was almost half empty.

Wonder if it's cause of the month. Shops are pretty dead too but I got fed up with paying 5 dollars for a bottle of water....wonder if the absurd prices has anything to do with it.

 

I saw Wayne Newton's show at Caesar's tonight. I would say it was comfortably full. A few empty seats near me but otherwise near capacity.

Great show, by the way. Like a time warp.

Saw Zombie Burlesque and Mac King both were very good.

 

We always try to get in a few shows while out there, but find it is rare a show is sold out no matter what day or month. The smaller ones like Wayne do not hold many folks, so they are closer to sold out. LOVE that we attend on every visit never seems to be sold out. Sometimes it does seem to get around what looks like 80%, but not that often. Only time it was full for us was on their 10th anniversary when surviving Beatles were also there.

 

There used to be a firm called Seat Fillers, who would give "promotional" tickets to attendees of conventions and trade shows and such, in order to build the audience.

I have not seen them for at least 2-3 years and I have no clue if things like that are still around.

 

Seems like they replaced that with the half price tix people. Let someone else sell your unsold inventory at pennies on the dollar and you don't have to worry about filling seats.

 

Timing can be part.

Which shows did you attend?

 

Went to Anthony Cools in November. I'd say it was half filled. Mac King first showing, it was early. 33% filled. No need to pay extra for closer seats. They'll just move you closer if those seats are empty.

Mat Franco was almost filled back in June.

 

A $5 bottle of water wouldn't keep me away from a show... doubt I'd drink more than one anyways.

 

If you're here right now, it's absolutely dead in general. Combination of it being post-Super Bowl, not really any big conventions or events in town, and the weather being relatively not-great (it's been kind of chilly except at peak mid-day hours, with very annoying winds). It'll probably pick up in a couple weeks when we get closer to the basketball tournaments and the weather improves.

 

I like it the way it is here right now. Temps are just right for me, as I'm from the Midwest.

 

The only shows that tend to sell out are the arena shows at T-Mobile, Grand Arena and headliners like Lady Gaga Aerosmith, Bruno Mars Celine…..
Absinthe also sells out often most of the year round shows never do

 

Love the cold, at least in allowed to change seats

 

In September I saw Absinthe and it was probably 70% full

In January I saw KA and it was maybe 30% full.

I also saw David Copperfield, Carrot Top, and David Spade and Ray Romano and those were all full.

I think it’s hit or miss.

 

Past two years, saw Opium, Love, Ka, Le Reve. Ka fairly full. The others, at least half empty.

 

Yeah I agree with most of members here... perhaps it’s after superball and some shows are hit or miss...and I agree $5 per water and $10 per popcorn probably doesn’t help either.

 

Off topic, but how was the show? Have tickets for the 28th.

 

I am a huge David Spade fan. I loved it. Ray Romano was actually really really good as well. They have an opener it’s another comic who was on Everybody Loves Raymond. Then David Spade does his act followed by Ray. Then Ray and David take questions from the audience.

If your sitting in the first 10-15 rows have a question ready because everyone who asked questions in our audience were stupid. They would raise their hand and be like just wanted to let you know I love you guys. Like stop wasting our time and ask about SNL skits or something. I think Ray and David gotta kinda frustrated by the questions as well and cut the Q&A a little short.
