Do hosts use people who don't gamble but give them a ton of referral business in players that are huge gamblers and how can the people that referred them get benefits at the Casino?

I don’t exactly understand the question because it’s one long sentence. If you’re asking if you can get comps by just traveling with or referring other gamblers, then the answer is usually no. I haven’t heard of any special deals like that.

    No.

A host has a "book" of clients through which he is expected to generate casino "action".

Everyone in that "book" has to carry his/her own weight.

The only time I have heard of comps being given to non gamblers was in the book "Whale Hunt in the Desert". The author stated that he gave comps to service people (e.g. Limo Drivers, bellhops, etc.) who informed him of high rollers at other properties. However, I don't recall even him saying he gave comps to someone just off the street, who gave him a lead on a big time gambler.

The short answer is no. Unless you are steering a whale or a really big player (think a million dollar CL) to the host, then they aren't going to do anything to you. And frankly, if you have the sway to steer that kind of player to a host, then you don't need any comps.

That said, there are non-gamblers who have hosts and get plenty of decent comps (not High Roller comps, but more comps than a green chip bettor). I have met them through my hosts at different properties. They are people who will come to town and dump five figures or more on the clubs and shopping each trip.

    I am a bit confused.

How would a non-gambler even KNOW a host in the first place? And if someone is already a big gambler - they would usually already have a host.

it does happen. I have a friend who is a non-gambler, but runs in the right circles. he refers these "future" whales to my host, and he in turn gets RFB anytime he goes to town by himself, which is maybe 4-6 times a year. hosts will reward good referrals. They just charge the RFB comps of the non-gambler against a larger player in town at the same time who will never use all their comps up on any give trip. ( This last part happens all the time)

This makes a lot of sense. I could see the bean counters at CET and MGM refusing to pay referrals, so that would be a good workaround. A host is essentially a sales job and referrals can be very lucrative to the company's bottom line.

    This is a GREAT book.

I sort of know of the same type of situation. Not that this person refers "Whales" per se, but "introduces" potential players in a decent amount. This procures free rooms at the very least, with some additional perks.

I have also been offered some additional perks for tweeting/FBind/IGing about a property...I didn't realize that would generate anything and I didn't really need it as my play speaks for itself. It was, however, a nice offer. I had to explain to this property that my opinion wasn't for sale and they had been doing a good job and that is why I said so on Social Media. There are a few places downtown in particular that actually pay/have paid people for positive reviews/social media. This is why I am very leery of any really, really positive and recurring reveiws/posts. ;)
